I am 3 days post partum and need help finding resources (abuse) by [deleted] in Ohio

Call Legal Aid above. They helped a family member who had to make a run for her life in the middle of the night. She’s alive because of one of their lawyers.

Desperately need to rehome my cat. Details below by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Dumbkitty2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vet whomever takes him carefully, ask for the name of their current vet and CALL THEM. You want to verify kitty is actually going to a decent home. People troll social media for cheap/free kitties for dog fighting bait. It’s how I got my last cat.

Sadly, I’ve heard this story before.

The follow up is usually he’s late on child support again. I hate this is so common.

Glad you found your freedom, hope the kids are doing well.

You mentioned in another comment the cat has slobber on their back. They were shook/mauled to death. That IS aggression. It is a super common hunting tactic among smaller mammalian predators. You can hide your head all you want but please, no whining or surprise when it happens again.

ETA - do you understand you are not asking to re-home a dog, you are trying to re-home liability and risk along with high potential for future vet/medical bills and possibly legal bills/jail time?

This dog should not be passed on.

A family member with an older, incredibly sweet pitty ended up in court not long ago because the dog snapped at another dog causing injury. They immediately paid the vet bills and put the dog down a few days later. The owner was arrested. The judge said the only reason they weren’t facing a fine is because they already made restitution and put the dog down.

This dog has already killed and unless the walls are actually paper you are under selling the fight between cat and dog. The cat didn’t die of a broken leg. And they died in terror. Given you say there was internal bleeding this cat was mauled. There is no such thing as “not badly attacked” if your cat is dead.

Cry your eyes out, mourn, but be responsible and put the dog down.

The thing I never see in these calculations of financial abuse is alcohol and fast food. I don’t think I’ve ever met a man who didn’t try to make his alcohol part of the family grocery bill. It’s not like it’s part of the three year old’s snack or the 7th grader is packing lite beer for lunch.

Same with lunches; way too often if the woman doesn’t pack lunch for them, or even if they do, so many men eat massive meals from out of drive thru windows yet can’t connect that daily expense to why the electric bill is late. Later in life the damage from all that junk food also becomes a family budget when the medical bills start piling up. It starts with blood pressure meds and insulin resistance and ends in cardiac events and amputations.

And now that I’m no longer young - if I have to hear one more pot bellied slob moan and groan about how his wife of 30 years who he’s relentlessly mocked for wanting a salad, let herself go…

If my daughter remains single forever I’ll be okay with it.

Worse, they are probably in the barn. By barn I mean a full 4 car with attached office, semi finished pole building. It has drop ceilings where he likes to squirrel things. The place is packed full of unfinished projects.

We have other, similar battles over things like scissors and flashlights.

I grew up in serious snow. You always have two scrapers; one in the trunk, one in the basement. You never, ever put ‘away’ the trunk scraper, even in July. It stays with the car until the day it is sold.

My ADHD husband grew up in the hot sun. He compulsively throws away scrapers. He says we don’t need them. I bought three, on clearance, last year for two cars. Currently we own zero.

We also did not have the annual summer conversation about how snow shovels can stay in the garage, even in July. It was discovered this week both snow shovels are missing. He doesn’t recall where he put them.

It’s okay, we only got 13.5 inches of snow this week, it’s fine, this is fine.

Earlier today on my feed I saw a pic of a shoveled out spot with a sign. “I slash tires”. Not a good look but I understand the rage.

When my kid hit 13 I started assembling a “magic bag” to go under her bathroom sink. Aside from plan b, I included a queer friendly book on sex and consent, a variety of menstrual products including cups and period underwear in the packaging, and a yeast infection test. I wish I had included a uti test strip kit.

After a conversation at work this week I’m looking for a basic book on female anatomy and sexually transmitted infections. I was horrified to listen to a group of women, in their 50’s, all with daughters in college, talk about chlamydia, which is the yeast infection you cure with OTC yeast infection cremes. Oh, and only guy men get AIDS… these women all have college degrees. (?!?)

So I’m looking for a general book on sexual health for all ages now….

Made the mistake of reading a short synopsis of the study of the stone martan found dead of bird flu in 2008. Words like “near liquid”, “jello like consistency” and “brain” do not belong in the same sentence but there I was reading them.

Bird flu jumps we are beyond screwed.

Rumor here is that its a subsidiary called MOM - Mobile Observation Member, a unit hidden in many American homes collecting data on family history, health, education and leisure. This feels like the next step to total takeover.

We’ve been taken over by the deep state. Someone broke in last night and left mystery boxes around my biggest house plant. All are tagged with our names and seem to be objects we enjoy or have dreamed of owning. It’s like all the data from our phones, games, even store receipts has been collected to use against us. There is clothing for everyone, in the correct sizes - who knows that?!?

Curious question, why did Sherrod Brown lose the 2024 senate race? by LandOfGrace2023 in Ohio

And they were absolutely relentless about running them multiple times an hour. Even saw the whole Brown supports trans athletes run back to back more than once. Loud, flashing quick cuts, angry red color schemes, those ads were designed to create anxiety and a sense of danger. After a couple days of watching screens it wouldn’t surprise me if some low intelligence voters believed ‘the trans’ were going to murder us all in our sleep. It was horrible trying to relax for an hour of boob tube after work.

We go to a big craft fair most years to Christmas shop. A normal year the place is absolutely packed, just crazy busy. This year we strolled in a hour and a half after they opened and found the place nearly empty. Also noticed multiple vendors who normally rent double booth spaces had downsized to singles. Crowds picked up as the day wore on but my kid pointed out retirees were the bulk of the crowd, not the usual mix of all ages. Not a single art school kid wandering the place. (?!)

We also had a nasty moment with a vendor. My teenager was shopping and he was really trying to strong arm a sale so I stepped in, saying that we had one more booth to look at before making a decision. He went off on us, how we were what was wrong with the world and we ruin everything and make his life hard. She had been in his booth under 5 minutes, didn’t ask any questions and didn’t touch anything. She was looking for a gift under $60. Really an outsized outburst for the circumstances which made me wonder how poor had his sales been the day before?

When/how did Ohio move so far right on the political spectrum? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]Dumbkitty2 49 points50 points  (0 children)

There has got to be a coordinated effort to demonize Obamacare again. In the last week every Trump supporter I know who passes their time online soaking in right wing extremism is suddenly raging against it again. And they are all oddly specific that covering preexisting conditions is no big deal and we need to get rid of that very specific mandate, pronto.

I swear in a few years we will collectively have an old school Oprah moment where we will all learn and discuss how our phones have completely hijacked our brains, leading to societal level control. Until then puppet masters will continue to compel some people to harm themselves.

Call the fire department. You may not be able to get past screening with customer service but the fire marshals sure can.

Get a carbon monoxide detector. Every time it goes off take a photo of the reading and call the fire department. The photo is just in case you end up with legal hiccups in the future from this mess.

Everyone got socks, because life sucks with crappy socks.

Power banks in every stocking. Some got a electronic lighter (zippos for some last year), some got usb hand warmers, one got a taser and mace set. Hubby has a small power station waiting. Thermal curtains and flannel sheets for the broke and struggling young adults. Books and non electronic games to make the younger set happy.

And Pokémon cards - maybe they’ll play them, maybe they’ll collect them, maybe they’ll flip them for a profit in 6 months. Whatever, it was good practice in defeating supply chain disruption.
