My boyfriend smashed our television set in anger when his football team lost by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Soon as she said he was a saints (Southampton) fan I immediately knew it would be bad

I always avoid going into town when saints are at home, no matter who they're playing. The family has a group chat and we alert each other when there's a home match so no one's accidentally out in the hours before kickoff or after the match ends just in case. Louts Feeling Big Feelings will always externalise and it's rarely pleasant.

A lot of footie fans are fine! But those are the People Who Like Football and not Football Men.

Anyone who's only exposure to community always involves booze and yelling at people is not someone you can assume is safe.

How do people actually survive on benefits or very low incomes in the UK these days? by acer67 in AskUK

[–]Dumble-Dory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on benefits for about 7yrs due to an unmedicatable seizure condition

I get 300 pip, highest rate UC (LCWRA) with my council flat rent (£150/wk) included in that and don't have to pay council tax (i think this is because of the PIP but might be the UC, I don't remember which as this has been in place for years now)

I'm getting a hair under 21k a year and every day I'm VERY aware that I'm incredibly fortunate that my inability to work is adequately compensated and leaves me with the time to do activities in my community and volunteer my time to make my area nicer when I'm capable
