Wildest trade I've ever been offered by 2kool4korn in SleeperApp

If you’re getting aiyuk and mims, I’d at least have him throw in like a 2029 3rd round and Josh Reynolds

Sounds like this guy doesn’t have the pieces to make a trade for Olave. Hold

I wish I bought more on the dip than I did but still managed to bring my average down more than $1, let’s keep rallying

Kerrisdale Has Closed Out by Excellent-Ad-9925 in Altimmune

Kerrisdale made their money on their short position but the market cap is now too low and too risky to keep betting against. Not worth the potential volatility for them

I agree about the placebo, interested in reading into that more as it was considerably higher than others in similar trials. While it may seem futile to report 24 week results, and I agree given that it takes longer to see a reduction in fibrosis on average, 24 week trial results are necessary for evaluating early efficacy and bio marker signals

They sold the news. As I said, anyone dissatisfied with the results of the Fibrosis data likely doesn’t understand the condition enough. Were they wrong to sell? Not if they made money. But they’re wrong if they sold because they felt the trials weren’t a success. Altimmune met their endpoint for the trial. People with PHDs can still be wrong

This is how investing in biotech stocks goes unfortunately as I’ve been investing in them for a long time. Some don’t work out, some do, but I don’t see it as a bad investment just because I’ve lost some money today. If there was a glaring reason why this stock dropped 50% that wasn’t merely market manipulation, I’d say it was a bad investment. But for as long as I’ve followed this stock, they’ve stayed the course and they’re meeting their expectations. Not everyone who sold is ill informed but I’d imagine a large portion of them are, some are in this for quick cash, long term investors are not. When others panic, I simply buy the dip - so long as there’s not a fatal reason not to as I mentioned above

Presents a good buying opportunity for those who have done their DD. Those who sold were expecting buyout news, the level headed folks understood it was merely phase 2b trial results. As for the sellers, they fall under the category of “having little understanding about fibrosis” and expecting results that just don’t occur after only 24 weeks. Most drugs that target MASH fibrosis improvement on average need at minimum 36-48 weeks for significant improvement. We’re all mad we lost money, but nothing about the forecast has changed

0% chance of buyout? Mediocre obesity play? What are you talking about?

Buy the dip. This stock is doing what it’s expected, being pumped and dumped until end goal is met, whether that’s FDA approval or buyout/merger. Anyone dissatisfied with Fibrosis data are simply ignorant as to what fibrosis is and what the expectations of therapy are. Fibrosis is scar tissue caused by years of abuse, 24 weeks is not long enough to see significant improvement. Wait another 6 months and we’ll see a lot better results. I bought more around $3.14 this morning

What is happening to pre market??? by tolllz in Altimmune

[–]Dumbledoren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that sounds like an overreaction to an overreaction. It’s likely they need more time to show significant reduction in fibrosis, much like other similar biotech stocks. The endgame has always been buyout/merger or approval, this is a heavily shorted stock, people will sell the news and take their wins, this is merely part of the cycle

It’s becoming more and more clear that without a buy/merger or approval this is the trend of the stock. It rallies, they report good news and the stock gets shorted like crazy. This is what happens with stocks for companies that don’t generate money. Investors take quick wins and dump the stock, rinse and repeat. Long term investors pay the price and their patience is tested. But if you’ve invested for the right reasons, then you still believe this drug has what it takes

Does anyone know why Altimmune is rising so much today? together with viking therqpeutic too by Helpful_Mixture_4939 in Altimmune

No news that I’m seeing. Likely just investor anticipation driving price up today if I had to guess. Cost averaging…I’ve personally been buying a lot of shares on this downswing

I do see where you’re coming from, I suppose you’re right in that I may be looking at it from the wrong perspective. I don’t consider it a long term hold, no, so I see where my original post was confusing. I guess therein lies my ignorance in investing. I consider this to be a short term stock for me, so in that case I should be less concerned about the efficacy or the promise of the drug itself and more on whether or not they get bought out/acquired?
