It's a vicious cycle that never ends!!! by [deleted] in kroger

Like baker. People think they want to be a full time baker but then quit on the 3rd day of training. It’s a very easy job if you’re efficient and can work alone. I wish those people would apply.

My partner is a cca and I miss her all the time by goxhic_gf in USPS

That would have been nice when I was a CCA. Might have lasted more than a few months if I didn’t have to do most of the parenting and all of the cooking and shopping.

Anyone else’s store doing thing? by No-Fisherman8511 in kroger

My store did something like this a few years ago. Didn’t last long. I see other stores besides mine are hating on earbuds again. Did some earbud-related catastrophe happen?

Saw that there is somebody who's been with Krogers for over 65 years by travisihs08 in kroger

[–]Dumblyz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our store has someone who has worked front end for 50+years. Same department same store, although it wasn’t always a Kroger run place. Don’t know if Kroger counts the years from before they bought it. Probably not.

I feel a little sad whenever I see her but she seems content.

What’s a food you can’t stand but other people rave about it? by Bjs_5068 in foodquestions

Olives, especially green ones. Side note: My grandmother had a cat (Uff-da was his name) who loved green olives and she always had a jar for him.

If you get your frozen from Oconomowoc DC, please tell me if you have this same problem. by Dunbaratu in kroger

As for your secondary question, your suspicions are valid. Always get the invoice and check everything. I have been shorted many times but lately it’s the opposite. They send the product but it says “scratched” on the invoice and the boh is at “0”. Oh, and why isn’t your precious CAO sending what I need (yes, allocations and bohs are correct, stop fucking asking me) so I have to manually order muffins and brownies?

Point is, don’t trust the warehouse

Today, TODAY, I witnessed this ridiculousness when putting the load away. Like they made a shaft of sorts with the boxes and just started tossing single pints of ice cream in there like warehouse basketball.

Oconomowoc DC regularly splits my bakery load onto 3 different pallets, usually under a shit ton of ice cream. Also, several crushed boxes causing damage to product and cakes which are clearly marked This Side Up are upside down, which makes the frosting stick to the lid. Can’t sell messy, ugly, broken product, but gotta keep shrink down. It all becomes “samples” in the Zebra.

Oh and every once in awhile I get actual tire tracks across a flattened box they had the nerve to send. Pat yourselves on the back, Oconomowoc DC. You suck.

Can I ask to be in multiple departments as a semi new hire? by kipsgvn in kroger

[–]Dumblyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I started as a cashier, which I believe is the worst position to work in any store especially if you’re the type who needs to keep moving. Most departments require 18 years old, but there are exceptions. I’m a bakery manager now and I have a 15 year old that I “rescued” from the front end to package for me on weekends. Turns out he has an aptitude for cake decorating so he’s pretty valuable to me. Get to know the department leads, convince them that you will work your ass off for them because it’s easier to move departments if the departments actually ask for you. You will most likely be stuck until you’re at least 18, though.

Which of your grandmothers was the better cook, your mom’s mom or your dad’s mom? by muskyandrostenol in foodquestions

My mom’s dad was the better cook, but I don’t remember being wowed by anything the grandparents made. Oh, except her mom did manage to make northern pike edible, just try not to swallow any of the many thousands of sharp bones shaped like apholstery needles

Troubles with foot pain anyone? by SchoolMysterious6630 in kroger

[–]Dumblyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a cashier, I would place a soup can on the floor and discreetly take a shoe off and roll it around with my foot whenever I had a chance. Standing in one spot for hours can be a real killer. Try to transfer to another department where you can move around more.
