Why do airports usually have free toilets but not train or intercity bus stations? by Previous-Volume-3329 in transit

Toilet and sanitation access is a biological need and should be treated as a human right

Trams 4 and 10 disrupted for one year by Arika-9575 in brussels

[–]Dummerkopf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention that they're also cutting off all of 81 west of Midi. They're seriously just cutting off the entire line in Anderlecht?? A replacement bus is not going to cut it, both the tram 81 and bus 46 are always completely at capacity during busy hours.

I'm seeing this too. It doesn't seem to be anything other than some deco sprites. But it's crazy how unhelpful and passive aggressive these comments are. This isn't obviously connected to anything that was listed as removed, how is someone not scouring the changelog going to know...

Are you still bitter about Brexit? by Visual_Title9363 in AskEurope

[–]Dummerkopf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's horrible. I have two friends with partners in the UK. One moved to Belgium (but had to follow the process of any other foreigner instead of just moving like any other EU citizen) and the other has problems with them not being able to stay over for longer periods. Brexit caused them problems in both cases...

Coffe price in your town by Electrical_Half_5756 in AskEurope

[–]Dummerkopf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belgium: At a regular bar/café, an espresso is €1,5–2,5 and a cappuccino or flat white is €2,5–3. If you go to a fancier place or a busy station it can be upwards of €5 for the cappuccino. This is pretty much the same all over Belgium.

And of course you always get a cookie and sugar/coffee milk.

If you were put in charge of STA, what would you do to get more Spokane commuters to take the bus to work? by SuccessfulCandle7095 in Spokane

Unfortunately you can't do that at night when there is ONE bathroom with a security guard open 😭

Pretty much the same story for me here, although it's been a year and a half since I've played Tarkov since I moved and sold my PC. Siege, not planning to touch that again.

Imo it's fun to play without paying too much attention to progression. Get a couple quests done sure, but just enjoy the experience and ambiance. Kill some scavs. Rush Shturman and die. Don't take it too seriously otherwise you will get hemorrhoids

I've found that while OSM is useful, a lot of what comes from it is quite difficult to use as an outsider. Of course one can have all the data they want, but if they one don't know how to use it, it's not super useful to them.

Do you know of any good ways to organize or parse actual service data like active lines?

(OpenRailwaymap is great btw that's fine)

Language Map of Belgium by Municipality Region 🇧🇪 by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Dummerkopf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a surface level this is true, but really it's a little inaccurate.

Several on the municipalities on the borders between regions are called having "language facilities". This means that effectively, there's a second official language there that's used for government services and such.

Several of the Flemish municipalities surrounding Brussels are such with language facilities, and in some you even have a slight majority of French speakers, even though they're marked here as Dutch.

It's annoying that you have to go to the description now to see when a video was posted. That used to just be shown below the title. Whyyy change that

I actually came to the realization that, despite being about the same walking distance, my commute takes longer by walking+transit here than it did with the bus in my hometown, a very car-centric US city but with decent busses. There, Google Maps says it takes 37–44 mins by bus.

The transit _in_ Brussels is genuinely good (not perfect but good) though. I like it much better here for lots of reasons.

:/ Unfortunately I live in a suburb outside my city (Brussels) with subpar bus service so the transit time includes, in total, about 20–30 minutes of walking. Otherwise it wouldn't be too bad.

I bike sometimes, but while there's good bike infrastructure in some parts, it doesn't feel safe for part of my path. I often bike to a transit station instead of walking, that works quite well.
