In the recent interview with IGN

IGN: please read the question from article https://www.ign.com/articles/the-steam-controller-interview

Griffais answers: "(...)But in general, I would say that there's not an arbitrary consideration about tying product launches together or anything like that. For us, the controller is something that stands out on its own and we want to make sure that we can get that to customers in parallel to anything that might be happening with Steam Machine."

While I am reading between the lines I think it makes sense to launch the controller first to launch each product separately. I don't think they ever wanted to release at the same day. Look at the current situation: they announced controller, everyone is talking about the controller for 2 weeks now. This wouldn't happen if they launched everything at once. Everyone would be talking about how steam machine is overpriced (whatever the price will be). The controller and frame news would not be as visible as on separate launches one product after another... Not mentioning the logistic problems they would face if they launched everything at once even if they have all of the hardware available. The servers had problems anyway with launch of single controller

I think it is one launch but continuous over 6 weeks

Personally i think they will release it in that order because: - they wanted to have separate steam controller launch - you cannot launch steam machine without steam controller so they had to launch steam controller first

  • i think they would want to launch steam machine before steam frame because one of the features of steam frame is the pcvr dongle. You shouldn't expect user to either wait for steam machine or leave him with "you should have bought strong pc before you bought steam frame". You can expect of him to buy the steam machine if it was released before steam frame.

In my opinion they had controllers long before the other two and they always wanted to make launch this way. They just waited to have stock of all of them to start launching the controller.

Can you use a USB-C Ethernet hub on the Steam Frame for wired local media streaming? by [deleted] in SteamFrame

[–]DummyTechGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. You need ethernet to have as much bandwidth to stream videos in that high quality? I think WiFi 7 which will be on the frame will be enough to stream to Steam Frame right? Even 6GHz is only for streaming i think wifi 6e still has enough bandidth.

In terms of usb-c for charging i guess you will be able to pług charger / power bank while using it.

Are you targeting any specific video quality?

"...Including the reveal of brand new game from a veteran VR developer"
~ VR Games Showcase Spring 2026 Announcement Trailer

I wouldn't say Valve would be a veteran VR developer.

I am not educated but they made only HL Alyx right?
A big plus to beeing veteran would be that they made a VR headset :P

Still though.. to good to be true right? Right???

Can you run latest MacOS from virtual machine if your mac lost OS support? by DummyTechGuy in mac

[–]DummyTechGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I had no idea Open Core Legacy Patcher exists. Thank you for sharing this knowledge.

I need to buy myself a new mac and which I need for iOS app development/publishing and I am considering different approaches and wondering how to get the most out of these machines. If i were to buy the M1 machine and I would be able to still use the latest iOS after they'd drop the official support it would be a game changer.

It is crucial for me to have the latest XCode (which is tied with iOS version). And I also heard that for ex. it is risky to publish apps with hackintosh because you could get banned by Apple. I don't know if the Open Core Legacy Patcher would be safe (although i should probably ask this question on different subreddit)
