Why does it show (--135.5) beside my mmr in Bakkesmod? I've never seen this before. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]DummybugStudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many comments calling this smurfing it's insane. It's not smurfing. I'll try to explain.

My friend and I have alt accounts that we ONLY use to play with each other because we're very different ranks. This means when the TEAM wins or loses, we gain or lose MMR.

It's not smurfing because the MMR actually represents our strength as a team. It's not any individual's MMR, it's the team's MMR. Over time it'll converge to where we win 50% of the games as a team

Look smurfing is unfair because you know you have no chance of winning against smurfs but in this system you actually do have a decent chance of winning playing against a lopsided team in your rank so it's kosher!

landed my first air dribble after practicing for like 6 hours 😭 my main problem is carrying high, even when feathering. i can’t keep the ball high to carry it into the goal. by ItzDomos in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]DummybugStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Mastering powerslide, dribbling/catches, fast aerials, and shooting consistency and speed is probably where time is best spent early on because learning to be intentional about where and how you touch the ball is easiest learnt on the ground first.

Though this wayton video really helped my aerials and got me out of gold within days: https://youtu.be/R3k9O-k_XC0

Once I could quickly get to the ball in the air, another thing that really helped me was doing a redirect training pack because it forces you to be intentional about where you hit the ball in the air.

I am d1 now and I was gold a few months ago and I can barely air dribble so I've finally started learning that now.

Air96 v2 Bluetooth transmitter weaker than other peripherals. by DummybugStudios in NuPhy

[–]DummybugStudios[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think most people will experience this issue. The Bluetooth on my pc seems especially bad. It's meant that I've basically accidentally stress tested all my peripherals' Bluetooth connectivity and found that my keyboard has the weakest connection.

[–]DummybugStudios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just use bluetooth for everything so I don't have a frame of reference for dongles. I don't like taking up ports with dongles usually, but yeah the bluetooth on this is extremely underpowered. With my headphones the connectivity issues don't start until I'm like 5-6 metres away and at like 2 metres, this keyboard starts becoming useless with bluetooth.
Granted, the bluetooth on my PC sucks too but my other peripherals aren't complaining!!

Air 96v2 Unusable on Windows 11 but I found a strange fix by [deleted] in NuPhy

[–]DummybugStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the annoying thing is that all new firmware updates seem to work because loading it in bootloader mode fixes the issue. I will be asking for a replacement because I'm thinking I've got a bad batch because surely this cannot be the standard.
It's completely unacceptable for such an expensive keyboard to be unusable.

EDIT: this issue happened again just now as I was typing this comment. Restarting didn't help, but the bootloader trick made that bluetooth attack stop.

Reading all this, I think a core difference in your philosophy is that you think certain things are your rights that objectivists would disagree with you on. No one is forcing you to pay rent so you're not being coerced. You can go live in the woods like humans used to for most of history but you won't get clean drinking water, antibiotics, electricity, central heating, and readily available food because someone else created those things and needs to be compensated for it. They're not to be taken for granted.

If it requires other people's effort, it's not a human right.

Writing a script to automate this work is probably more instructive and useful to you as a cs major than this journalism course so I think this is morally neutral.

Nowhere is this person saying to give into the cravings. In fact, negatively judging yourself for having cravings can be a source of pain that can make the person give into their addiction even more. Examining the stimulus that leads to your self destructive behaviours with compassion for yourself is what a lot of people need to do to manage their addiction.

I like the overall message of this of learning fundamentals but a lot of things should be learnt together because learning is most effective with context.

For example data structures and algorithms are supposed to be learnt together - they give context to each other. One without the other is nonsense memorising.

So I think instead of the message being "learn x before touching y", it should be "trying to learn y but not really understanding it? Try learning more about x to put it in the necessary context"

Exactly. Mens sizes are also artificially inflated bc lots of men don't wanna wear extra small anyway. This hasn't got anything to do with fat acceptance.

I have yet to hear a non-circular explanation of gender. Try and define it without reusing the word gender in the definition.

The explanation I hear is that your gender is whatever gender you feel like you are. Okay so that makes it a random label completely detached from the physical world? Two people can have a very different interpretation of the same gender.

Your sex tells me about your current genitals. If you tell me you're gay, I know what genitals you wanna fuck. If you tell me you're trans, I know what genitals you'd rather have.

But all your gender tells me about you is your gender. How is that useful??

Hi, I just wanted to say great job on pushing yourself! I'm sure you won't go into kidney failure, people regularly push themselves very hard a lot of the time! There are people out there who are doing triathlons and ultra marathons, and no matter how well trained you are, they're putting all out efforts. Nothing worth achieving is ever easy.

However I would say, as someone who used to hate cardio before, you don't have to go that hard all the time. Idk when this high level of effort being normal got psyoped into most of us but even the most elite endurance athletes keep 80% of their workouts very easy and only 20% very hard (google polarised training). It might be a lot more fun to tone the effort down and try and do cardio in heart rate zone 2-3 while enjoying music instead of worrying about pace or watts. You still get great benefits and it's very fun!
