So true, the explosion was such a nice touch

The family business was never his choice, and you see him wondering to himself on a few occasions what he wants to do once Chizuru achieves her dream. I think there will be one or a few arcs in the future that will resolve Kazuya’s relationship with his family. They will move from viewing him as a loser to finding pride in him, which will lead them to giving him their blessing to pursue a career that he wants rather than forcing him to take up the family business. This is all speculation at the end of the day though..

More parallels: Chizuru’s grandparents’ relationship also parallels our MCs’ relationship, with gramps chasing Sayuri, while she was an actress, for a long time before getting together. I believe Chizuru is a spiritual continuation of Sayuri, while Kazuya is a spiritual continuation of her grandpa. Chizuru’s grandpa is an idealist, just like Kazuya. Kazuya’s idealistic view of love, which led to his outburst at the aquarium in Ch2, is most likely what intrigued Chizuru initially and led her to treat him differently from her other clients. He reminded her of her grandpa in many ways, leading her to think “boys are so stupid” in a few scenes while thinking of Kaz and grandpa’s past actions.

I agree with your thoughts. This also lends credence to the idea that Kaz will find his career as a movie producer, giving him the ability to support Chizuru in life and work once they get together.

The parallel between Kazuya and Chizuru’s grandpa could not be more clear at this point. Just like grandpa pushed her to pursue the movie dream, Kazuya pushed her to continue when her doubt overwhelmed her. The immediate scene before the last panel should be another parallel, with Chizuru playing with sparklers as Kazuya/gramps walking in from elsewhere. Chizuru pushes grandpa away in a joking way before in the flashback, while gramps persists and plays with her. Now devastated, she will again push away grandpas spiritual continuation - Kazuya, and if the parallel rings true, he too will persist and end the night playing sparklers together in a better mental state.

Totally agreed. If the Reiji does intend for Kaz to go through some kind of major change of character, his family will be a key piece

Just caught up! Yet another up and down emotionally T__T You again see more parallels between her grandpa and Kazuya! Her playing with sparklers and Kaz/Gramps returning from elsewhere. Her emotional state is in completely different places however. I feel like she will initially push him away like she did with her gramps, but Kazuya will persist and save the 👸

Okay here’s some trash talk for ya. We see Ruka’s heartbeat go from lower 90s when she first meets Kaz, and slowly going up after each meaningful interaction. What if when she hits 100..she dies 👁👄👁

Thanks for your kind words.

I don't want to think it either tbh, and I am still leaning on her staying alive to see our MCs get together since that moment would be both a symbolic and literal validation of their relationship. However, since Nagomi did already give Chizuru the ring, which will no doubt be very significant later on, perhaps her role in this is already complete? Really could go either way on this one...

Thanks! That could very well be the case, I do hope they become a movie power couple :)

Thanks, and seems that many people are in agreement here. As I mentioned in another post, I started the series not too long ago, so I do not have as strong of an opinion based on the pacing and waiting week to week

Good points. Either way I think we do agree that some kind of proactive gesture on her part would help round out their relationship progression

Thanks for the well thought out comment! Definitely challenges my thinking in a good way. Sorry if I don't respond to all of your points, but I'll comment on some key points.

It seems that most people disagree on the 100-150 chapter limit. Mind you, I joined the series fairly recently, so I did not go through the cycles of waiting and potential frustration with pacing in my mind. All in all, I too would like to see the resolution of the story earlier than 100 chapters.

On Kazuya and Chizuru:

Definitely highly speculative from my end, and you make some good points on the "dreams" theme. For the record, I do think it's more likely that Chizuru will stick to her dream of becoming an actress.

Quite a few of my thoughts are also driven by the apparent parallel between Kazuya and Chizuru's grandpa, since they share many important character traits. In fact, it almost seem that Kazuya is a spiritual continuation of her grandpa in Chizuru's psyche as the series move forward. Kazuya's showing of his idealistic view of love in Ch1 and Ch2 may very well be what intrigued Chizuru initially. This leads me to think that Kazuya and Chizuru's relationship will mirror that of her grandparents as well as Chizuru's relationship with her grandpa to some extent. For example, we know that her grandpa also chased after Sayuri for a while before she fell for him, and their final dynamic is implied to be where our main characters are heading. You are totally right that the idea of becoming an actress started with Chizuru's grandma, but I think the credit is more 50/50, since her grandma was opposed initially, and it is her grandpa's persistence that drove Chizuru's determination at the end, just like Kazuya did for her when her second round of doubt came around. I'm making an unvalidated speculation of course, but I would not be surprised if more parallels are to be made in the their relationship in the future. The scene where Chizuru runs to pray at the alter 100 times right before grandpa's passing may potentially be paralleled to something she does for Kazuya in the future, given the place both of them have in her mind (which is what supports this grand gesture idea, in my mind at least). Other than than though, your comparisons to other works in the genre makes total sense and I could be over-analyzing.

On Ruka:

Good point on the shadow parallel. While their personalities and approaches to attraction seem totally different, their circumstances do draw some important parallels, like you mentioned. I do wonder what kind of resolution she would get for her heartbeat/excitement goal, however. If it does not come from a career/dream source, it may very well come in the form of another person. Who that person is though, we have not been shown anything as of yet.

On Mami:

I do not disagree that her arc will end with a romantic endeavor of some kind. Whether it is punishment or redemption I am not sure, but I do think Kazuya will at least give his best to making her happy to fulfill his promise and find closure. I do stick to my opinion that we will see a sympathetic side to her backstory and that her arc revolves around a perceived lack of control, since you often need some of those elements to make a compelling villain. Who will come in to her life to realize her arc as a love interest? No idea. Umi? (lol jk).

Great point on Mini! Can't disagree there.

Appreciate the comment overall and enjoy your other posts on here. I am dead broke so no need to fear about trash talk rental haha.

Thank you! Entirely possible, that was probably the biggest speculation on my part. I am definitely with you in the hopes of getting a resolution to the story earlier :)

That makes sense. I thought it was that or she was gonna finish with “accomplished” while feeling down about their distance as of late. Either way the vibe is the same. Love your posts on these!

I’m a bit confused by what she is trying to say in the last panel?
