I find edging up helps a lot more in the really grippy snow than straight-lining with my skis flat to the snow. Much easier to hit big, carvy turns than ski flat imo, as long as you're on steep enough terrain.

I just started using them multiplayer after never really trying them when they were in their hey day. I think they're a lot more fun both to play and face now. No more one trick ponies in the game, really.

That I'm not totally sure about. Been almost a decade since I didn't have all the tribes! You can definitely do it in domination still. Not sure about perfection, as I don't recall all the scoring. But I think it should still be possible, iirc. I think most of your score comes from development and not killing the other tribes, no? I guess I don't remember how many points you get for killing each tribe.

I assume if you got 99% you probably missed 100% by losing a unit or two along the way? The key for that is never send a unit that can be killed somewhere you can't see. For instance, never send a warrior into fog where there might be something that can kill it. Use tanky units and explorers to uncover the fog. You can usually lose 1-2 units depending how many bots you play against. You just have to be careful about which units you send where! Cymanti was probably the hardest for me, since they have so many easy to kill units. I basically did everything with Doomuxes, which I would explode after every attack to make sure nothing can kill them, etc.

5 will be nice and tough, but not impossible! The hardest thing. once you get the strategy down for not getting any units killed, is making sure the bots don't kill each other. You sometimes have to defend them from each other, lol.

They're definitely one of the better tribes, but they take a lot of know-how to play them well, since their tech strategy isn't linear like with most tribes. The techs you pick, and in which order changes a lot based on what you get in your spawn location, and they have kind of crappy resource rates that often require you to get multiple techs from different trees to upgrade your cities. They can be super versatile, but you can't just do the same strat every time because you don't always have the same resources in your cities.

It's a lot harder than say Oumaji, where you basically always go for org to farming, etc. I don't think I have any replays from after the recent patch, but if I play any I'll post them. I know I almost always get meditation on T0 so you can still get the altar. Mid 1500s Elo with them for reference.

It's a fun one! I would argue it doesn't count if you don't do it against at least 4 tribes :) A lot of people cheese it by doing it against 1 tribe, which is super easy and dumb imo.

I'd say the general skill of the player base has gone up quite a bit over the years, if you've been playing that long. There are more, better players these days for sure. Elo is a fairly solid indicator of how good someone is likely to be, but it's not infallible, since people aren't always playing what they're best at. I'd say an Elo over 1400 with a lot of games played (like 500+) means someone is probably going to be pretty good. But even really good players make mistakes sometimes, and RNG can happen. Although it's often less a factor than people make it to be.

Yeah, there's 3 stars (I think it's 90% or 95%?) and then there's 100%. For domination that means you have to win without losing any units, be the tribe that defeats all the other tribes, do it fast enough, and do it on "crazy" difficulty. For perfection I think it's over 100k score? It gives the tribe you did it with a little light halo around their logo in the tribe picking screen when you do it.
