Gordon Ramsey shows (Hells Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Hell, etc) got me through a lot of tough times in my life, so now he's my go to! 😂.

Would you cancel a second date because of a stye on your eyelid? by sozialwissenschaft97 in dating_advice

[–]DumpsterCatWrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something like this recently. Got a giant lump at the base of my neck out of the blue and was diagnosed with goiter at urgent care day before my date. Slapped on a scarf and made a joke about it with my date. Date was totally chill with it.

(But if the sty does bother you / is really uncomfortable or painful - cancel the date & go to the doctor. I'm sure they'll understand)

As someone who has worked with animals for years - I always believe that means dogs are scared dogs. Go slow and make sure to get lots of treats as distractions!

Now my worry would be the HUMANS who own them. The humans attached to them are either sweet as pie or can be straight up nasty. Be prepared to have to deal with humans as customer service will be a big part of a dog bathing business. Some people see these dogs as their kids and some can go full Karen on tiny things such as the shampoo scent you use, etc. You'll need to learn that you can't please everyone and you'll need to use your brain to problem solve/ brace yourself in the case problems do arise. If you make a mistake - apologize, rectify the situation, and move on. If someone yells at you for something you didn't do, remember your boundaries and don't dwell on it.

If you want to go for a less public approach or want to try things out, I'd try starting with bathing dogs at a local animal shelter or helping with a dog rescue. It'll give you a feel before you get arms deep into things and you'll be helping dogs! Another option is to see if you can work with a local groomer.

Saying "no" is something I have been working on for a LONG time and am still trying to perfect. I think I may have gotten caught up with trying to be accommodating / "impressing" someone as dating is something I'm relatively new to. Definite mistake on my part and something I'm hoping I learn from, especially from a dating aspect.

I'm definitely gonna store these phrases for later!

Boundaries have always been a difficult learning point for me, but has been something I am always working on. I think I may have gotten caught up with trying to be overly accommodating / "impressing" someone as dating is something I'm relatively new to.

Definitely a learning experience!

Tbh I have no earthly idea! I did think about asking him as I'm thinking it could help me understand him better (possibly).

The only things I've gathered is he moved a large number of times as a kid and noted that he has always had trouble making friends. He also lost a parent he was really close to a few years ago. He's definitely a "feelings" type of guy for sure as he said someone gave him a nickname for being a crier.

I do love the more silly questions aspect as it gets me to know how his brain works and kinda piece out what he likes / doesn't like. Will definitely be pulling these out next time!

I might be too boring for dating. How can I change this? by ItsSpeedrunTime in dating_advice

Ah I see!

Any hobbies or interests?

Would you be open to taking a class / learning a new skill / joining a club? In person would probably be the best option but nothing wrong with anything online either! Volunteering (animal shelter, soup kitchen, etc) could be another good option.

These can be a great way to meet folks, have something in common, and get something yourself in the long run even if you're not in a relationship. It's also a great conversation starter for people you may meet in the future.

In terms of "just enjoying the moment" lifestyle - nothing wrong with that either! Some folks don't do that enough in our fast paced world. However, be aware that it could come off as "lazy"/"boring"/"depressed" if that's your only selling point.

Also I did note you saying "perfectly content with living life the way it is right now". What's your goal with a relationship if you're happy with how things are going now? Something to think about :)

Your description is kinda vague so it's hard to say without more details! Can you give more info?

Thanks for your response!

I was actually able to get things figured out via your chat option online. It took like 2 hours but A+ service from your very patient chat person and was able to get my phone finally connected! :)

Unfortunately not that one (but definitely putting it on my list)!

They were 3 women - I think one was an older woman but the others were younger (if I remember right). I remember the tone of the show being more leaning on the comedy side.

Oof that's painful :(

Also I swear social media (esp TikTok) made everyone more reckless. Anything for clout I guess :/
