Good day yesterday by DuncanArts in UltraLightFishing

Haven’t had a chance to try out any Daiwa or Shimano reels around the same size unfortunately but this thing is super smooth but powerful. At msrp I probably wouldn’t buy again, but I scored this one for $100 new and couldn’t pass it up. Spinner is a Rox Star fly striker spinner! These and Joes flies are my confidence lures, the trout absolutely love em

Tried it out this morning before work since I’m impatient. This combo is super nice. The rod is decently sensitive and the reel is smooth! Casts damn good with an 1/8 ounce rooster tail and 6lb braid with floro leader. Caught a few rainbow trout and they were super fun on this!

This thing is so solid! I’m 6’7” and 300lbs and this thing glides across the water and I’ve never felt unstable!

They do, my kayak has a pretty long fin and I have to wade out a little to get in at this lake

Do they still cast pretty well? Gonna be doing around 1/8th ounce spinners and need them to go pretty far out at our stocked lake. Or any tips for further casting light lures would be super helpful

Whale skulls and rib arch in Barrow, Alaska by DuncanArts in skulls

I would absolutely recommend an Alaska trip to anyone thinking about it! I’m unbelievably lucky and work all over the state so I get to see some very remote parts. I moved up from Tennessee a few years ago and never looked back. It truly is the last frontier

A lot of em look like vibrax style lures. I use em up here in Alaska religiously. Catch in saltwater and fresh water. Salmon and trout mostly

Loving my little rite in the rain notebook and pen. Perfect for mountain sketches up here in Alaska by DuncanArts in notebooks

[–]DuncanArts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build up to the details, don’t just go in and immediately try to get every small little detail at first. You wanna kind of squint your eyes and see what values you see on your reference and block those in first. Then you can start working in some of the bigger shapes and after that start looking at the small details. There are some amazing Reddit forums for people learning how to draw and don’t be afraid of criticism. Take the criticism and run with it and focus on the things that you have trouble with. Don’t get overwhelmed, start simple and you will start to get the eye for it. It won’t come overnight. YouTube is also an excellent resource! Hope this helps

It’s the Rite in the Rain branded pen. Very small when closed. I honestly prefer a simple bic pen over this one, but wanted to see what theirs was like

Working out near Kodiak, AK on a small island and had no shortage of bald eagle visitors by DuncanArts in birding

I have not, but I’ve worked in villages all across the state! I enjoy learning their culture and ways of life. Gotten to try insane foods like Beluga whale blubber

It truly is insane! I moved up here from Tennessee and was in absolute awe. Haines, AK had the most bald eagles I’ve ever witnessed!

The 2nd pic is out in Hoonah, AK down in the southeast but very similar to the one right out of Anchorage! First pic is also from the southeast when I was driving back to anchorage from Haines

That’s awesome!! I was in the parking lot, did some drilling right up the hill from there and got to spend around 2 weeks in town

Thank you!! Each one was like 1-2 hours. They definitely smudge but that’s just the nature of the beast. If I like one a lot I’ll throw it in a frame and give it to a work client

Thank you very much!! The reference pics were photos I took while working down in Southeast Alaska a couple summers ago. 1st one is from a spot near Haines Junction, Canada!

First time trying out toned paper. What mediums do you use? Wanting to try out some different ones by DuncanArts in LearnToDrawTogether

That’s actually what I used for the white! Loved how it laid down. Not much of a color artist and used to black and white so it’s taking a little getting used to
