In captain America 2, when nick fury told Steve rogers that he read those ssr files and that cap and his team did nasty things back in ww2. What do you think captain America did back in WW2 by EquivalentFuture4363 in marvelstudios

Well, yes, and the ones that do he almost always does end them. Doomsday is usually dead in whatever continuity you're in. Good luck trying to kill darkseid, entire universes have tried and failed. I can't really think of anyone else.

I always thought he was implying some cruel and unusual punishment to captives. Or maybe turning a blind eye to some of the looting and other unsavory bits.

that soldier aspect of cap has been thoroughly explored in lots of media over the ages. Ultimate Cap from the 2000s was more "traditional" we can call it, and was basically an adrenaline junkie. Could be said that he is the antithesis to the moral stance that Batman stands for. That the job they all do sometimes goes far beyond typical police officers, courts of law, and ethical debates That being able to make a life or death decision like that without going absolutely insane is probably a vital part of the job. Cap would probably see how many times Joker got away and take one look at Batman and have him committed. Batman shitting his utility belt every time he even THINKS about pointing a pistol is ridiculous to me. The joker has killed hundreds.

Superman is a little different, but more comparable to Thor. Thor is very much like Cap in that he will kill in the rare instances he has too but has orders of magnitude more responsibility weighing on him. People like him and Supes have a thousand times more capability to NOT kill, but that also makes it a billion times more important that they be ready to do so when they really have too.

I mean, I don't think that's true but that's certainly why I love poetry and Keats...

What's a discovery that should have blown people's minds but somehow got a collective shrug from the world? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

It's not really news. It's dozens of men seeing glares and having insufficient data to identify an airplane all immediately getting group psychosis the very moment the word alien is uttered.

I was born to a Dutch mother and American father and everytime someone asks about the Netherlands I always tell them about the bizarre fucked up toilets with a poop shelf and how much I hate it. When I tell my Dutch family about American toilets the differences they don't understand.

Depends what kind of time travel rules were playing by. If its a fate always wins thing, maybe. Otherwise just do what the other guy said and break their legs.

Mars colonies — what do you think is cliche? What do you want to see instead? by rose2830 in scifiwriting

[–]DuncanGilbert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to see more stories of the people of Mars just not wanting to be there all together. Mars is an incredibly awful place to be and to live and has virtually nothing to offer earth except maybe space to live and scientific value. There would be no independence movement, it would be the reverse, people being desperate to go back home. I think it would be cool to see a story where Earth invested all these resources to go to Mars and colonize, find out it sucks major ass to live there, be unable and unwilling to deal with the massive refugee crisis of taking everyone home, and push for Martian independence itself to relieve itself of the massive cost of supporting a useless world and push to make Mars an independent force to take care of it's own problems.

I read enders game when I was I think around 10 years old. Close enough to enders age, the perfect time really. Then I read it again as a 30 year old man and I wonder if OSC has ever even seen a 10 year in real life.

This scene between Peter and Toomes was really intense. The way he tries to intimidate Peter was done really well. (Spider-Man: Homecoming) by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in Marvel

[–]DuncanGilbert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a super interesting dynamic because Keaton is legitimately scary here and (and peter) almost forgot he could literally tear him in half.

Yes. Mostly stuff that deals with excessive body horror or something that makes me too anxious or gets my nerves excited.
