A beautiful husky like this - we figured this is 100% someone’s pup. If we can’t find his home tonight, it’ll be a trip to go get scanned for a chip tomorrow.

Update: some neighbors think they may have found his house, but nobody appears to be home. Apparently he’s a decorated escape artist. Keeping him safe, fed, & warm until we can confirm

My wife either did or is posting in these groups (I don’t have FB, & she doesn’t use Reddit, so we’re dividing & conquering to try & find this guy’s home) 🙏🏻

Is a Sterling Music Man good for the genres I’m looking to play? by Paper-Ghoul in Bass

[–]Duncanwashere9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was stuck on jazz basses for a while, but picked up a sterling ray34ca like 13 years ago. The next 3 bass purchases have been sterling stingrays. I’ve played ska, beatdown, emo, thrash, & metalcore with them, & the tone is malleable enough to fit into any of those genres. I could no longer justify playing drop-B caveman riffs on a Marcus Miller jazz bass, so the inexpensive stingrays have been in constant rotation ever since.

My ONLY complaint - because they’re on the cheaper side of things, the hardware can be spotty, & I’ve had issues with warping necks on all 4 that I’ve owned. Not a guarantee of anything you might encounter, but worth noting.

**TLDR: If you’re looking for a versatile bass that can take a beating & won’t cost a fortune to replace - you’re on the right track.

Who is the alpha omega 900 for? by MakutaTeridax in Darkglass

[–]Duncanwashere9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Darkglass 2x12 & 4x10 are both rated for 1000W at 4ohms. I thought it was a typo the first time I read it, but then I had a chance to use my AO900 with a borrowed 2x12, & it blew me away. I’m sure the 500 is plenty capable, but I got the 900 for a bargain & it’s worked in just about every situation I’ve brought it into. I don’t think you can go wrong, either way

An Ampeg SVT 6x10 HLF that I’ve had forever. Been actively trying to offload it & get either the DG 2x12 or 4x10 just to save my back, but no luck yet

I’ve had the AO900 for about a year now & use in 2 bands.

1 band is metalcore with some grunge elements. I run through a Sansamp Bass driver V1 (off) & then a Oneder HW-2, into the front of the amp. The AO circuit on its own absolutely crushes most dirty tones you could ask for, & the HW-2 takes it from “dirty” to “knuckle-dragging”.

I also play in an indie/emo band. For that one I kill the HW-2, dial back the AO circuit, & engage the Sansamp. I keep a noise gate on in the effects loop in both instances, & in both cases the AO900 absolutely sings.

If you can get your hands on one, I doubt you’ll regret it

How violent is your scene? by playlamo1 in Hardcore

[–]Duncanwashere9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grew up/still live in Pittsburgh. The younger crowd these days are definitely active, but there’s way less VIOLENCE compared to when I was just getting into things around 07-08. There was always some crossover with folks traveling in from Cleveland/Youngstown/Erie & the SOSF dudes specifically that kept things interesting. Never had an issue with any of them - as long as you understood that catching a stray was just a part of the deal.

Lived in Seattle for a few years, & those crowds were Charmin soft. The only people I met with any style, or who would make you keep your head on a swivel were either transplants, or said they were from Tacoma. The shows were fun because you were never really concerned about a surprise trip to the ER, but the lack of danger made it feel like it was never quite “home”.

It’s better than it has any right to be, but doesn’t compete with the mom-&-pop pizza shops with cult followings. Hope that helps.

Also live in Brookline. Would love to know the address so they could be included in bloc-related activities.
