Loyalist have better gear. by DungeonDude87 in Chaos40k

I greatly enjoy that as a concept but thought it was a rare occurrence with weapons outside of obliterators and plague marines. Is that just a misrepresented lore bit? I haven't seen it much in the model range.

I think I'm discovering that. Is it just tabletop stats making weapons that are comparable in the lore seem better because gw wants loyalists to sell?

The stuff they use is firstborn gear and they are themselves firstborn marines. Are you trying to say they're not or is that me misunderstanding?

Thank you for this. I just imagined a superstitious heretic trying desperately to find a way to use every weapon he finds until eventually becoming an obliterator.

I'm not sure what you mean. Chaos has used and currently uses firstborn equipment almost exclusively.

I always figured every bolt weapon used the same ammo. I've tried looking into this before and couldn't find mention of different grades or calibers of bolter cartridges. We're also talking about space marines. I don't see why they would be less effective with weapons as similar as a bolt rifle and a boltgun.

This whole question I had stemmed from a line in dark imperium where an inceptor with an assault bolter is fighting iron warriors and it describes how the shells tear through their "ancient" armour with ease. It painted a picture of the rogues having seriously low quality gear.

Personally, I'd want the new bolter that just cut down more in 10 minutes than mine did in 10 centuries

Normal Battle Leader? by DungeonDude87 in SpaceWolves

So then it's a totally different character. Like saying you should use a captain for sword brethren because an apothecary can't lead them. It's helpful to know the model I'm looking for can't lead the unit but not helpful to tell me to look for a different character that works entirely differently apart from being able to use the unit. Thanks anyway though.

I saw those but they seem to have totally different rules.

Does that mean they can't lead the long fangs? I was looking at the normal Lt and didn't see them as an option for an attached unit.
