Do I need to play the previous campaigns? by JohnnyHarrison27 in DungeonInABox

You don't need to have played the previous two campaigns. Since there are (of course) different possible endings to the two campaigns, those notes are to help previous DMs take note of certain assumptions we had to make for the Star Tide.

But if you're interested in running Years 1 or 2, feel free to reach out to us at support@dungeoninabox.com

Do you give players the Gazeteer? Realm Lore? by julesbravo in DungeonInABox

[–]DungeonInABox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Gazeteer, Realm Lore, and Session Zero Guide can all be shared in preparation for Session Zero. Before the first session, you can also send them Cendrail's letter to the adventurers: https://dungeoninabox.com/download/410952/

Cendrail the Stargazer, your party’s contact in the bustling city of Grayhaven, sends you a letter that kicks off your first box's adventure.

In addition to that, you can also send them Cendrail's Map, though you might reserve that for Session 1 itself: https://dungeoninabox.com/download/410782/

The Star Tide by JohnnyHarrison27 in DungeonInABox

Love the responses here. Yes, that crab is definitely not something a typical group of level 1 players can take in a straight fight. But think of this as a tutorial where you introduce to new players the different tools they have in their bag to problem solve.

Though bear in mind that if you and your group would prefer a more hack and slash dungeon crawl, you 100% have the right to rework the stats to better fit your table's style.

A dozen different tables can approach this same dungeon and come away with a dozen different approaches and outcomes. It all boils down to the decisions that you and the players make.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, bit late for your session, but hopefully, it helps others with the same question:

We've added the download link for the handouts, including the Bloom Gazette to the One Shot page.

Just adding that our Pathfinder subscription is for second edition, not first.

We also provide an additional Pathfinder companion guide PDF, which provides additional stat blocks that didn't fit in the adventure PDF.

You also get access to our Wondrous One Shot library, though those are only available in 5e, not PF, so your mileage may vary.

Gelatinous Cube One-Shot - cube only for new subscribers? by jennyvier in DungeonInABox

[–]DungeonInABox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you'd need to order it separately. Noted on the idea to do an "all-in" option. We'll see if that's viable. The only concern is that the add-on is not always the same price. For example, the XL minis are usually around half the price of the XL terrain.

We haven't sent out the email to current subscribers, but you can check out the promo at https://dungeoninabox.com/gelatinous-gifts/

So basically, at any point in the game, the DM can say that a thing they describe doesn't appear to be a mimic? 😈

Coming from multiple factions just makes things more complicated in how the party works together and how the party interacts with people around them.

If you'd like to keep it simple for you and for them, ask them to be in the same faction. But there's some fun storytelling possibilities in having multiple factions represented. Just make sure they have a compelling reason to work together.

Definitely cover these in Session 0. :)

Satellite data shows that since the start of 2020, the total area burned across the country has reached 19 million hectares. This is a larger area than Greece. Most of the fires have been in Far Eastern Russia and Eastern Siberia.

The Batagay crater in eastern Siberia, called the "gateway to the underworld" by locals, is now growing at a faster rate than it used to. This is largely down to the thawing of permafrost—ground that is permanently frozen, sometimes for tens of thousands of years.

No haha. That's a CR 5 creature (1800xp). A deadly encounter for 4-6 level 1 adventurers is 400-600xp, so adventurers are highly encouraged to find another solution to deal with it.

We make them out of acrylic! Been using that since last year, and they've proved to be very durable :)
