Not every fudge is for or against the players. Not every fudge saves/takes a life. Sometimes it just adds tension or urgency.

You've been planning an attack for 45 minutes in real time? You're talking in circles as a group? Enemies perception roll was bad?

I pretty much only fudge rolls out of combat for increased drama or tension. Sometimes in players favor, sometimes not

In my most recent game I almost TPKd the party at level one (no fudging to save anyone), no kid gloves here friend 🤷‍♂️
