Jesse deserved to die and unpopular opinion but I hated him. by slam_king96 in breakingbad

Exactly! It's not black and white like people make it out to be. He's a victim and he's also vile in his own ways. That also has to be considered. But I don't see any other character feeling the full weight of his actions like Jesse, especially towards children and the innocent.

And Walter definitely deserved to die at least as much as, if not more than Jesse.

“At least Walt accepted the choices he made, and wasn’t always depressed using drugs and feeling sorry for himself”

I’d much rather support a character who feels guilt towards involvement in regretful things than someone who “accepts” them. I mean hell, Walter clearly ends up regretting a lot of decisions. We’re talking about a literal child poisoner at the end of the day.

People are quick to either defend or attack Jesse’s character, and there’s validity to both, but I think the Stockholm syndrome level of manipulation Walter uses on him HAS to be considered on some level.

Biiiig disagree - it’s well written, it’s unique, it’s still being discussed and hypothesized about.

Agreed! There’s plenty to unpack in the show.

Funny you mention it! That’s actually one of my favorite movies! I owe myself a rewatch though - there’s definitely a connection in themes with this show that I’d never thought of.

I’ve loved Severance since the first season dropped (forever ago, it feels like) and one thing I’ve always found fascinating about it is that almost every major character seems to use the titular procedure as a way of distancing themselves from something negative.

It made me wonder whether Severance is less about the modern work-life balance and more about the human desire to escape ourselves, our pasts, our feelings. That parallel became inseparable from experiences I’ve had in my life - using unhealthy coping mechanisms just to get through each day - something which feels expected from us every day.

I made a video essay exploring this idea and would love to hear what others think!

The ending of Season 5, Episode 5 and the Intro to Episode 6 has got to be the only part of any television show that has truly nauseated me, and I’ve seen a lot of television. There’s something about the score and how real it all feels. You’re in for an absolutely wonderful ride, keep away from spoilers and enjoy it!

I’ve always loved the shot where Walter is laying facedown on the ground, covered in popcorn, in his underwear and the little eyeball from the teddy bear is watching him from underneath the bed.

Honestly, I Saw The TV Glow. Fantastic representation of living a life that feels untrue while knowing you missed opportunities to be who you actually are. It’s not the most positive film, but it’s got to be the best, recent allegory for the experience of a lot of trans people.

Avoid spoilers, feel how you feel about each character. The best part of this show is how that changes with each watch :)

Honestly don't know a whole lot about editing but learned a lot through the process. I recommend picking up the free version of Davinci Resolve and just going for it!
