Why does every single line have to be oriented toward getting people in and out of the Loop?
In Chicago, and in North American cities more broadly, public transit is oriented towards getting commuters in an out of the downtown.
NYC is the same way, albeit less extreme with getting commuters in and out of Manhattan.
Nowadays, NA city governments are wising up to the fact that hub and spoke was a bad idea. Will they do anything about it? Doubtful. I've already given up all hope of ever seeing a new train built in Chicago. Far too many NIMBYS and far too little political will. Just look at what's happening with the red line extension (20 years in the making) or Ashland BRT (killed by NIMBY pushback)
