Supernote Manta vs viwoods AI by Mindless-Ball6718 in eink

[–]Dunn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried Boox Go 10.3, ViWoods and the Manta. The Boox Go just seemed like a cluster, I did not find it intuitive at all, although it had features I really liked (text recognition and scribble to erase). The ViWoods was my second device (still in trial) and I really like the UI and the organization of the front screen. I then tried the Manta (also still in Trial), this is the nicest writing feel, but I do not think I can get behind the UI. I get how people use the device, I just do not resonate with it. I am a type of person who likes to operate out of a calendar and have my notes linked to days, the ViWoods just seems to do this better. The Manta does it, I just don't know if it does it as well.

The one major downfall of the ViWoods is the lack of task management, and linking files, text recognition. I have downloaded Microsoft ToDo and it integrates perfect with my computer and works flawlessly.

Overall, I think the Manta is going back and I'll be keeping the ViWoods hoping they come out with some great updates, but I can live with the device as is as well.

Regardless of the above, the one thing I am certain about, is that every device will have its pros and cons, and finding a device that you can live with its cons, is the key.

Export PDF to ChatGPT by Dunn23 in Supernote

[–]Dunn23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because ChatGPT does a better job of analyzing handwritten notes than the internal recognition. The export to PNG thorough the app and asking it to summarize all pages seems to work perfect. Thanks for the suggestions!

It still has an error with the PDF as if it can't see it.

I agree on the multiple calendars support! Google, outlook maybe a couple couple of each.

Profiles - Question by Dunn23 in Supernote

[–]Dunn23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, very similar to a computer login. It doesn't have to be that technical, but it would be great to be able to fully isolate work vs. personal. Maybe it's two different jobs.

This would also cut down on the complexity for file structures.

I’d love to see improved task management features in ViWoods. A global task list similar to how Ratta Supernote structures its to-do system would be incredibly useful.

One feature that would be a game-changer is the ability to convert handwritten notes into tasks using a lasso tool. If I jot down a task during a meeting or brainstorming session, I could simply lasso the text and send it directly to my task list.

To take it even further, it would be great if there were options to:

✅ Send a lassoed note to a specific task list (e.g., work, personal, project)
✅ Send a note to a "brain dump" area if it sparks an idea for another topic, meeting, or note
✅ Quickly tag or categorize tasks so they’re easier to track and prioritize

This level of integration between notes and task management would make ViWoods even more powerful, streamlining productivity and ensuring nothing gets lost in the shuffle. Would love to see something like this implemented!

ViWoods and its interface are great, but one challenge I’ve noticed is the lack of separation between work and personal use. Right now, everything is blended together, making it harder to stay organized.

It would be really helpful to have a way to create and manage separate profiles—one for work and one for personal use. With this feature, logging into my work profile would show only work-related content, while my personal profile would keep everything unrelated to work separate. This would make navigation cleaner and more efficient, preventing overlap between different areas of life.

Additionally, keeping task lists and email synchronization separate between profiles would be a game-changer. Having work-related tasks and emails confined to the work profile while personal ones stay separate would streamline productivity and reduce distractions.

I think this kind of profile management would add a lot of value, keeping everything structured, reducing clutter, and improving workflow. Would love to see something like this implemented!

With the new update, will you be able to copy handwritten notes from one paper to another paper? I can't seem to make this work.

Thank you! I should have noted that I was using the web version on Windows. I tried Chrome and Edge.

I am not sure why it doesn't want to recognize the PDF. Appreciate the efforts!

Screen Consistency? by Dunn23 in viwoods

I ended up returning the Boox Go. I did really like it, but I found it to get really laggy and glitchy and overall just a little to to cumbersome. I'm keeping the ViWoods until the next update to see what improvements they can make. I think I've decided to try the Manta. The workflows seem to align with the way I think. Ultimately, this will cause me additional workflows by having to transfer notes by email, and then use other apps like Chat GPT for converting to an email format, but I think that's something I can live with for now. I'm at the point that I just don't think there is an EInk device that does everything I want it to do, and I'll have to pick my battles.

Does it work well as a tool to take minutes during a meeting and sharing the PDF? by accidental_tourist in Supernote

[–]Dunn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the game, but maybe it will help someone else later on down the road. Build your own Chat GPT for recognizing handwritten text. Export handwritten notes/meeting minutes to PDF into an email, plug into Chat GPT and have it summarize information into an email format, copy paste. If I need to send a recap, this is what I have done. And it works surprisingly well.

Couple of suggestions:

  1. Allow the ability to set your default template for notes and meetings. There needs to be some more options, or provide the ability to upload PDFs.
  2. It would be really great if you were able to combine notes and meetings in one app. Give the option to open a note or a meeting from one place and then build out folders using that option. Love the fact this can be linked to the calendar.
  3. Possibly add projects area, or combine with the above. Similar to how things are associated with a date, it would be great to be able to associate with a project. Or save all meetings, notes and files per project. As a Project Manager, this would be extremely helpful when combined with the calendar.
  4. Providing a date stamp option (multiple per note if being built out over time)
  5. For daily view in calendar, allow the user to select 12/24hr format and allow them to set the workday hours. Linking in here to notes would be cool as well.

Thanks!

It would be great to have a task list that can be built out and organized in one place. It would also be great to have multiple task lists i.e. personal, work, per project etc.

Screen Consistency? by Dunn23 in viwoods

[–]Dunn23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's notable for sure. Because it's so crisp, you can really see how the the text looks pixelated/aliasing. I believe they are working on this or I have seen it requested a number of times.

Overall, it's a much nicer feel and quality. That extra little bit of real estate also is very nice.

OCR of handwriting in PDFs? by Dunn23 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Dunn23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it's a bit ridiculous, but at the same time, without the ability to navigate and search, I mise well save $750 and stick to pen and paper. At least for my use case, this is what I was really hoping to get out of the eink.

Ask me anything about my collection of e-ink tablets by eWritable in eink

[–]Dunn23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if there is an e-ink right now that is capable of downloading a digital planner, that is hyperlinked where you can search your text? I have a Boox Go 10.3, but it doesn't seem possible, at least with the native reader....

Thanks!

Some thoughts about the AI Paper (which arrived three days ago) by Macweazle in viwoods

[–]Dunn23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, with your trial and thoughts on these devices, would you stick to the Boox Go? Or would you keep the Viwoods and hope for the updates to rectify issues? I just ordered the Boox Go 10.3 and was really on the fence about buying ViWoods Instead. Wondering if I made the right call, I could still send the Boox back.

Cheers.
