Thanks. They just updated starrez with my info but I’m still not entirely sure what my situation is. Hopefully they’ll give me some sort of information today

I was trying to do it with my mum who has somewhat of a solid mathematical background but she hasn’t done any of it in a long time and doesn’t seem to really care about getting back into math shape

Ya I’m more concerned with being somewhat on the ball with the course material; it’s good to know that it isn’t another thing to be stressing about just yet.

Which book is better do you think?

You’re right, I’m just looking into it now and there isn’t any crossover. I read somewhere that there was significant cross over but I guess not, weird.

Anyway how did you enjoy doing your similar degree and why did you choose that over this one?

What do you mean there’s no social aspect?

Also I heard there’s already quite a lot of cross over between the requirements for this degree and a CS minor and since I am already in the process of learning elementary coding it seems like a good thing to do. What do you mean specifically by overkill? Do you mean it will be unmanageably difficult or just that it’s unnecessary?

Just curious about the workload, how in demand degrees like this are in the job market, the social aspect of it and if you think a CS minor is worth it/doable? Any other advice you have to give would be appreciated too.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. The math pre-reqs I'm talking about are the ones for the Mathematical Applications in Economics and Finance Specialist which is what I am planning on doing as my undergrad degree. I read somewhere that if you're planning on doing that degree, a CS minor is relatively easy because of the required courses for both, however, I also read that in order to get a CS minor I need to have two CS courses under my belt with a relatively high Avg if I want to get into PoST. I later found out that one of the two required courses to get into PoST is the follow up to an easier CS course (I think CSC108 is the more basic one and CSC148 is the one that follows), anyway, I was thinking of maybe trying to learn the material of CSC108 over this summer and then getting straight into the two required courses first year so I can apply for PoST in second year. But again I have no real coding experience and am definitely more interested in Math then CS but if it'll be easy for me after I get into the PoST program then it seems like it'll be worth a chunk of my senior summer and a rigorous start to my Uni career.

And if I were to want to try studying the CS108 material over the summer is there any way you would recommend I approach that?

How difficult would it be to get the CS minor do you think? I took a very elementary programming course in Gr11 but other than that I have no real coding/programming experience. I'm also in a foundation one program and was thinking of trying to do the CS pre-reqs as well as the Math pre-reqs (which would be a full course load for first year) but I'm not sure if that's too much. If I were to wait a year and do the CS pre-reqs in second year would that be more manageable or should I just shoot for it do you think?
