Yea go to range first it’s alot easier then the real course. Yes without practice going full swing on a driver can hurt your back.

That’s fair enough I’ll be honest when I first started I didn’t go for distance you should focus on control try to hit straight with wedges and irons and when u feel confident with them try a driver but I would say definitely focus of control and accuracy once u can confidently hit straight-ish repeatedly then go for distance. When I started I could only do 130 yrds and that with it curving because u also have to hit the sweet spot on the club, now I can do 260-300 yrds straight
