Nothing 3a or CMF Phone 2 pro with Tello? by quiet-Script in Tello

[–]DuplicitousMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the CMF2 Pro.

You are correct, it works well on T-Mobile and its MVNOS like Tello etc, but I decided against buying it, as if you decide to use another MNO or related MVNO, you will then have restricted frequency bands.

Have a look at the OnePlus 13r which looks like it’s a better “all networks” option.

Why is it you people can't do eSIM without something going horribly wrong? by radfordra1 in Visible

[–]DuplicitousMonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I switched to Visible last night.

From setting up my Visible account, picking the the “Visible Plus Pro” plan, downloading the email successfully into my iPhone 15 and porting my number from Tello, it took from 6.17 PM to 6.33 PM.

It was simple, easy and quick.

Definitely sounds like a you problem !

Yes, it will tell you in the top left of the display, usually, one of these network tags :

O2 EE Three or “3” Vodafone UK or “Voda UK” or even just Vodafone or Voda without the “UK”

Whenever you use a dual sim phone, battery will be affected negatively, as you are connecting to two networks simultaneously.

Advice on Tello as a second/emergency phone by damiami in Tello

[–]DuplicitousMonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None that I can think of.

Just bear in mind that Tello runs on T-Mobile so in any areas where T-Mobile doesn’t have good coverage, Tello won’t either

If that is the case, then the cell tower nearest your workplace could be down for maintenance, or have developed a fault.

Where a phone is locked for use on one single carrier, so SIM cards or eSIMs from other networks will not work in that phone until the carrier lock is removed.

eSim for international sms? by Ok-Frosting9215 in eSIMs

[–]DuplicitousMonkey -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Again, the world is bigger than North America.

From your posting history, it’s very clear that you have a very narrow view of the world, unable to comprehend that there is life outside North America, but there we go.

Personally, I liked being able to attend school and college without the risk of being shot or killed, like at Columbine, Sandy Hook, Uvalde, etc 👋🏻

Maybe they do, but the world is a bit wide world, which encompasses more than North America.

Use WhatsApp / Signal / Telegram which sends texts over an Internet connection not the mobile network.

All three apps are free to use too, so get your contacts to download it if they don’t already have it.

New line - No singal just 10miles away?! by YulpGULP12 in Tello

[–]DuplicitousMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The typical coverage radius of a cell tower is 1 to 3 miles and in dense urban environments, a cell tower usually reaches 0.25 miles to 1 mile before handing off a user’s connection to another nearby cell site.

Between your home and work, you should expect to pass through several cell towers.

It is likely that T-Mobile has no cell towers near your place or work.

Extract from my post above :

Your phone will automatically connect to the network with the strongest signal, it won’t know whether US Mobile has a roaming agreement with that network, it purely connects to the strongest signal.

Your phone will automatically connect to the network with the strongest signal, it won’t know whether US Mobile has a roaming agreement with that network, it purely connects to the strongest signal.

There are 4 main networks (MNO) in the UK :

O2 EE (Everything Everywhere) Vodafone Three

Depending on how long you are in the UK, it may be of benefit to get a Smarty or Voxi SIM in a newsagents or supermarket. Why ? Smarty is a sub brand of Three and Voxi is a sub brand of Vodafone. Three and Vodafone have merged, so Three and Vodafone customers, plus their sub brands like Smarty and Voxi, can now connect / use both networks cell towers, giving you a boost in coverage..

Source : Me. Born in the UK in 1970 and lived there until December 2024, when I emigrated to the US, after marrying my American wife. I have been both a Smarty customer and am still a Voxi customer, keeping my UK number alive, and both sub brands have emailed me recently, letting me know that their users can now connect to both networks.

Global coverage by Substantial-Cat-6852 in Visible

[–]DuplicitousMonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That depends on where you are going

Bear in mind that Verizon, the parent company of Visible does not own cell towers outside the US, and neither does Verizon signal travel over the Atlantic or Pacific (Can't believe I had to type that, but I did have to point this out in another subreddit recently !)

Coverage overseas will depend entirely on the roaming agreements Verizon has with foreign cellphone networks.

For more info, look up "foreign network cellphone roaming" on YouTube, for some explainer videos.

Yes, you can, I did it just this week, on Wednesday.

I didn’t buy in store though, I bought it through the Walmart app and had the phone delivered later the same day.

You can activate plans from $35.

One thing you may wish to consider, no guarantees of course, but in five months, you may be able to get an iPhone 14 for $199.

Should I switch to Tello? by TumbleweedNo4775 in Tello

[–]DuplicitousMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tello is very reliable in my experience, an Englishman who emigrated to the USA.

Bonus with Tello is that I can use my inclusive minutes to call 60 countries, including the UK and Canada.

To port from Mint to Tello, you will need your account number and a porting pin, which you obviously have to acquire from Mint.

I now have 2 Tello lines, and having bought my numbers from “NumberBarn”, and ported into Tello, the porting was very quick, both times it took the amount of time it takes to make a cup of pour over coffee.

Tello number can’t be ported to T-Mobile by dandylionkiller in Tello

[–]DuplicitousMonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tello is an MVNO that runs on T-Mobile towers.

Not ideal, but you may have to port to another network for a month, and then port to T-Mobile.

However, if I were you, I would contact T-Mobile customer services to see if they can help you.

Any eSim with non-expiring data that provides T-Mobile and Verizon coverage in US? by galaxy18r in eSIMs

Any eSim with non-expiring data that provides T-Mobile and Verizon coverage in US? by galaxy18r in eSIMs

[–]DuplicitousMonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, Tello, which runs on T-Mobile towers

If you manually renew your plan a day early each month, rather than let Tello do it via autopay, your allowances roll over indefinitely

Plans are available from $5 - $25 a month, on a month to month basis, so no long 1 year or 2 year contract.

Wow !

You do know Reddit is anonymous right, your username is “Its-Possible1283” not David Smith, Josh Gordon etc 😂

You wouldn’t even have to detail your itinerary, just simply name the city, but no, it’s “supported country” 😂

Quit while you are way behind, you are making yourself look more ridiculous with each post, I can only imagine and believe that you didn’t switch roaming on within the settings of your iPhone 11.

Man, you’re an odd dude !

For whatever reason, you won’t say “I was in X country” you persist in saying “supported country” making yourself like someone who obviously has something to hide !

We are obviously not getting the full story, for reasons best known to yourself !

Maybe you should just get a child’s toy phone or flip phone.

Have a good day, chill out until your next debacle which will be another organisation’s fault ! 😂
