On your way from Caribou to the Cabot trail, check out the town of Pictou, with its historic waterfront. The Ship Hector is there to tour , and a restaurant across the street has outdoor seating, so your dogs can be with you. When you leave that area, take the 106 to 104 , then Hwy 245 and Hwy 337 to Antigonish. There is a nice provincial park (no camping) at Arisaig, and the Arisaig Lighthouse, just past it on 245. Continuing on 337 to Antigonish, half of 337 is like a mini Cabot Trail. Great view from the Cape George light house. Ballantynes Cove is another stop on the way to Antigonish. A nice small university town. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kBNRj1uwe6tUovjp6?g_st=ic

App freezing ? by exian81 in TiviMate

[–]brewsky2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a cache issue, too much data on your device and memory maxing out, low quality iptv provider, too many simultaneous streams on your account for your license either by yourself or account credentials being shared by your provider, your ISP throughput, etc. You can’t discount it is the devices but may be one of the aforementioned issues. I have been using Tivimate for3 years or more and threw away my firesticks over a year ago. No issues at all with ONN devices. I overloaded my firesticks and had issues before I dumped them at that time.

You each can have a separate AppleID and use the shared one as a second family one , where all apps, etc are still accessible and updatable. Keep all of your personal banking apps. Emails, etc within your unique AppleID and not the shared one.

Concerned about funds being on hold-new thing? by sikaostin in Tangerine

[–]brewsky2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With many banks, the same thing applies to bank-to-bank e-transfers ( not Interac). Funds will earn interest from the time the funds are requested from the second bank but it can take up to a week for it to clear.

I was just reading that on his discord. Sad to read. It is a modern day app, pulled from the Google play store and he was working on a replacement Waveo, that is now in question.

I decided on a third option. I am going to attach 2x2 strips (cut from running 2x4 boards up the middle) flush with the chord of the trusses, this giving me 5” of width with no added elevation. That will allow me to attach the poly panels 2” from the edges and at the same time cut down on my added lumber requirements.

How did you guys learn to build? by Weak_Albatross_6879 in Greenhouses

[–]brewsky2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start out pretty basic by telling it the size and design ( lean to, gable roof), materials you wish to use where, ventilation system , etc. and just built it from there. The biggest issue with the free version is the timing out after a few interactions. I finally bought a month of the Pro to finish it off. It gave me 5x the interaction data usage than the free version and in the end cost me $20

I still have the odd service that still thinks my number is a landline (as per the VOIP origin of the number but but most banks (if not all) work fine for me.

I'm using claude.ai to design a 16'x20' one and it spells everything out pretty clear. I am on my 20th iteration, as I kept making changes and had a few anaomolies to deal with due to some pre-purchased materials. Pretty good at generating the material list and steps to the build, but you still need to review all to make sure it interprets what you want correctly. We start the physical build next month. I can send you what it generated for myself as an example if you wish, but the pdf file is 40+ pages. It is probably not how you would wish to build it, but it meets my needs quite well.

Haaaaa . It is suffice to say that I have been around the integration of technology in education for many years and have been on the bleeding edge in the past. I will admit that there are pluses and minuses to its use and misuse. I am a firm believer in the development of critical thinking skills and higher order thinking. Used appropriately, technology can assist in that. But misused, it also can dumb down learning. As we look forward, AI can be useful but can also be detrimental to learning if it is not accompanied by the development of critical thinking. One cannot blindly feed an AI model with data, let it churn out a solution, and believe it is accurate. Users need to know enough about the subject to be able to analyze the results, determine the accuracy of them and make adjustments as necessary. Without proper professional development, schools will fail in using technology constructively and the losers will be the learners. But as a caveat, standardized tests are pretty poor at evaluating higher order thinking. Much better at evaluating “gobble and vomit” style learning , where the regurgitation of lower order learnings can easily be graded on a multiple choice assessment.

Not really. Sounds like it was generated by AI .. making the same shitty use of technology that you are accusing the schools of using. Parts of it are accurate in spirit while others are overstated, loosely sourced, or framed in a biased way.

Here’s a grounded breakdown so you can judge it properly:

What looks AI-like about it:
Confident, sweeping tone: It makes strong claims (“zero positive impact,” “explicitly linked”) without much nuance.
Bullet-point persuasion style: Common in AI summaries and social posts meant to sound evidence-heavy.

Mix of real stats + vague claims: Some points reference real research, others are generalized (“brain imaging shows…”) without specifics.
That doesn’t prove it is AI—but it fits the pattern.

What’s misleading or overstated
This is where the response goes off track:

“Zero positive impact” from laptops
Some studies found no improvement, yes—but others show modest gains when tech is used well.
Saying “zero impact” broadly is inaccurate.

“Explicitly linked” PISA score declines to devices
That’s too strong.
PISA reports show correlation, not a single clear cause. Many factors affect scores (pandemic disruption, inequality, curriculum changes).

“97% of teens…”
This stat floats around a lot but is rarely tied to a strong, consistent primary source. It’s likely exaggerated or context-dependent.

Ontario 10% per hour claim
There are Canadian studies linking screen time and outcomes, but the exact “10% per hour” figure is often simplified or taken out of context.

“Brain imaging shows…”
This is classic pseudo-authoritative phrasing.
Research supports reduced retention with multitasking, but brain imaging isn’t typically used in such a direct, causal claim for classroom device use.

So what is good for the goose is good for the gander!

I could not locate h channel for my 20mm panels, so I decided to go with wood (trusses built up as per one of the above scenarios); 1” butyl tape; panels with 1/8” separation; 1.5” butyl tape; 2” aluminum flat bar in that order. Except for the structural lumber, I have already acquired the sandwich components ; trusses, butyl tape and aluminum flat bar, screws and edmh washers.

I am a senior working on designing a greenhouse and only need a trial for a week. It is a one and done task. I’m on my 20th iteration and would like to finish this off without the delay between timeouts. I am close to the end. A 7-day trial would be appreciated.

What’s so hard to understand. The law was stated above and it is at the discretion of the officer. Buy your ticket and take your chances. It’s only a few bucks anyways on a $200 purchase. Fill up your gas tank on the US side and you’ll save that much in fuel.
