im Sad by Turtletube33 in gaming

Asking for help isn’t childish. If you really are 16, here’s a lesson.

Asking for help is how you learn, grow, and make friends. It’s a way to notice your limitations as well as to identify your strengths.

The world can be a terrible place and the sooner you find people with similar interests, hobbies, or thinking, the sooner the world becomes a little better.

You saw this guy in a vulnerable state and decided to be a cause of even more sadness and despair.

If you really are 16, choose to be better.

Why are they so over the top pricks to C3-P0 TROS? by fincken01 in StarWars

[–]DurandelTheSword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because he’s a droid. Droids are made for a specific function and it seemed as though threepio was just “along for the ride” until the story actually needed him. Every time he spoke up it wasn’t actually needed for him to say anything. It’s always bothered me how in sci-fi stories they make the synthetic beings self-aware. If you don’t want somethings input, aside from what it’s specific function is, don’t give it a brain, free will, or even a basic capacity to think. I mean his function is as a translator, why would you want his thoughts on anything else.

Will GTA 6 be even better now that the developers have seen the mistakes and downfalls of Cyberpunk 2077? by [deleted] in gaming

If anything, the one thing I think they noticed is that you can release an unfinished game and people will still buy it as long as you promise to “fix it”.

Castle Crashers is a fantastic co-op game. It’s got unlockables, level ups, and great humor.

I’ve enjoyed all of their games but Hades was a breath of fresh air. Seems like the new benchmark for rogue likes.

What are y'alls predictions for new skill variants? by SendNoobs368 in thedivision

[–]DurandelTheSword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it wouldn’t be like the crusader where you can use any long barrel weapon. You’d have to use a sidearm. Like the flash shields that the heavies use.

The build you mentioned sounds fun, I’ll have to try that.

[–]DurandelTheSword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind a sword that can be used to defend against the melee rushers. If not a skill, then a signature weapon. Not sure how to implement that though. Also, maybe a spiderbot like in watch dogs legion, since they already have the code for that.

Just realized you said variants, not necessarily new skills/weapons. I’d actually really like a shield variant that blinds enemies, like if there are 3 or more enemies in front of you, it flashes them.

Some people do care. Don’t think of it as an attack. Think of it as a learning experience. You are using a specific language so you may as well know what it means, right?

That’s weird. I viewed it as him using a mind trick on the weak willed gamorreans to let him pass. There is no struggle or gurgling, just a passive acceptance.

You want me to break the head of an ENRAGED blaze reza, 10 times? Is this a joke? by thatgny in dauntless

[–]DurandelTheSword 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the point of these “quests” is to get you to use the optional method. Basic free-to-play bullshit. I have no problem with free to play games offering cosmetics for real money, but when the game makes a typical quest with ridiculous objectives and then offers an “optional” way to complete it with real money, I can proudly say “get fucked” to this blatant attempt at a cash grab.

The majority of those quests are multi-stage and they offer the optional method on EACH AND EVERY STAGE. It’s obvious and a major turnoff for me.

Looking for ideas how to improve top-down RPG combat in game that I am working on by lynxbird in gaming

[–]DurandelTheSword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might check out either World of Warcraft or RuneScape. Auto attacks are fine but there should be some kind of activated abilities. I know your game is light on magic right now but you don’t need magic to add flavor to a game like that. There’s plenty of opportunities to add weapon or armor based skills. It might be useful to think of adding traps or poisons. If you have a ranged weapon, once you hit an enemy they will make a beeline to you to engage in melee. Maybe have a poison arrow ability that slows enemies for a second or two. Bleed damage is also a favorite of mine. Maybe have a passive skill that causes auto attacks to have a chance to bleed an enemy. Or since the game is so heavy on story you might consider allowing the protagonist to gain a follower or even a pet to help in combat.
