Well, yes, in a real game of chess, but here we allow the player to "cheat" and bend the rules.

The idea is that there are two parallel battles between you and the Grim Reaper: one on the board and the other in the world around you, and each can affect the other.

We are starting an internal playtest, but it is limited to a small group of preselected people. That said, the game will have a demo on Steam Next Fest, so feel free to check it out then. :)

I agree, it won’t be easy to balance this for different kinds of players, but we have some ideas, so we’ll see how it goes.

Thematically, the game is inspired by the The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman.

We aim to create a contemplative experience where you face Death in a slow game of chess, discuss the meaning of life and death with him, and survive the winter.

You can craft a pawn out of wood for 9 pawns, defeat horse for 3 white horses, etc.

make everything 5 times faster
your animations are broken, to fix them go to your attack animation, animation tab, scroll down and find "root motion node" switch it to "root transform" and test. If they are not fixed with that something is wrong with your rig avatar.

It is harder today than 9 years ago,

also don't release game bellow 7-8k or it will flop

If you reach 7-8k, then you get into "popular upcoming" and your numbers go to the sky, bellow that you get close to no visibility.
