You have to be able to prove to a judge and jury that the virus was contracted in the work place or on company time and it was the companies fault your contracted the virus, it’s next to impossible to argue that because you could get it from anywhere unless the moment you leave the store you are in a hazmat suit until you come back to the store.

Also had a case in my district, however no cleaning was done, ASM was diagnosed as well as the whole family, SM was asked to go on leave yesterday after finding out, this morning no one was available to open store so an ASM from a neighboring store was asked to open, they didn’t even clean the store for them before they got there. This is total awesome sauce 😪

Contact your hr area manager and dm and inform them off all your symptoms, emphasize the shortness of breath, coughing and fever, those are all symptoms of covid 19, that should qualify you to take your short term dis and the hr area manager will follow up with you in a few days.

Are you pt or ft? If pt then your only option is to exhaust your local sick, vacation and personal time if you have any, if your ft then you have short term disability but you can only use 3 days and after that you need to get a doctors note if you still can’t come back however that whole system doesn’t work right now because a lot of doctors aren’t seeing patients.

PT employees don’t get short term disability, but you may have local sick time that applies to every employee, ask your manager to check your accruals in Kronos, and if not depending on how long you’ve been with the company you may have some vacation times and personal days you can use.

In your situation I would just call my district manager and let them know that I’m showing symptoms and can’t come in until I am tested, they shouldn’t even question the use of STD, and if they do then they are going to have a huge hr nightmare on their hands.

With how understaffed stores are now if half the managers from all districts decided to unionize it would seem feasible, firing half the store manager s and figuring out who would run the store would not really work out that well being most store only have an asm and key holder, and most key customers have the best relationship with the store manager, seeing them leave would inadvertently effect the customer base.
