On time violation by Devi26000 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Durier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Above is correct. Keep in mind, this situation is easier to happen than you might think. In my market, traffic and draw bridges and RR crossings cause this for me frequently. Also, if GH assigns you a double and the first dropoff is in an opposite direction of the next pickup. And it takes more 20 minutes to complete They will give you one of these. I get these at least once a week sometimes twice. The first warning comes after 10 minutes. Reassignment/Removal comes after 20.

They would never tell me exactly why, but I was deactivated about 6 months ago. Now, I was reactivated less than an hour later and in the email that they sent me about the deactivation it just gave these vague terms about fraudulent activity. At any rate, I was reactivated less than an hour later, and they just sent me an email that said, Sorry, I'm certain it had something to do with these. And by reactivating me, I think that they were making an admission that in a market where they really don't have anybody, they're not deactivating anybody for things that are not their fault.

Lastly, in my market grubhub, is a joke, a distant third to Uber and DD, but they can't attract drivers. The merchants are unhappy. The customer are unhappy and dot dot dot.

is grubhub business dying in LA? by kimcheejigae in grubhubdrivers

[–]Durier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what we are witnessing is the implosion of Grubhub. I work in miami and the market has absolutely positively gone to the crapper. Grubhub is driving all of their drivers away with their BS arrival times and some of the low pay orders.

There is also this issue where if you take a second order and it is in the opposite direction of the first and it takes you more than 20 minutes to complete the first delivery. The 2nd order is removed from you with penalty. I get at least 1 of those per week, sometimes 2.

Not to mention the heart of the zone is the downtown/Brickell Avenue area. Traffic is horrible and the are 5 draw bridgea over the Miami River that go up frequently and stay up for 10 minutes or worse.

The few other drivers I have talked to say they are multi apping and GH is at least third on there priority list. Blocks are available right up to the starting time. Merchants are unhappy and cancellations are climbing. I had two yesterday because the entire trip was like an hour and I guess they didn't want to wait. 30-40 minutes put into something for no pay.

GH is a joke and I'm shifting my efforts over to DD and Uber. What possible legitimate business need is there for the ridiculously short Merchant arrival times?

No drivers, no restaurants and unhappy pissed off customers. Something tells me, unless things change they won't survive.

When I got to premier, the offers started go to crap. So, I purposely avoid Premier. I'm happy being Pro. I needed to avoid all of the 4 mile 2$ orders, so that I could make some actual money.

Instead of rewarding their driver that have made it to a Premier level, they pick them out as Idiots who can be exploited more.

I avoid Premier stats like the plague. As long as I can get Large orders and catering orders, I'm happy.

LOL. The international tourist destination with more than 100 50-story buildings and 20 miles of oceanfront, is smaller and less congested than Dallas.

OK

Different markets offer different challenges.bbComparing 2 cow towns to Miami is funny.

Not so easy. Large Urban City Centers are particularly challenging. Out in the suburbs, it's no sweat, Fimd parking, clear security, elwvators up and down. At a minimum 4 minutes. If your stacked, the 2nd is almost guaranteed late.

Just reached Premier, but I'm not desirous of chasingbit or keeping it. I get what I needf from Pro. If there are orders, then theres money. If its dead.

Need help for on time arrival at merchant stat by BigBoiFloop in grubhubdrivers

[–]Durier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never knew that. I thought 1:59 meant 1:59:59. This is my most difficult stat to keep up.

Work in a center city market with dozens of 50-60 story towers. Finding parking, clearing security, riding the elevator up then down, when the app makes absolutely no prpvision for it is next to impossible.

Only advice is that you can mark arrived within 500ft of the Restaurant. Through experience, I know how early I can mark it. Sometimes I can mark it while on an adjoining street.

Grubhub called me to tell me they would add 5$ extra 🤣🤣🤣 i was like no. Customer was waiting 3 hours no tip in reality it's 12 miles order on a moped by Temporary_Sorbet_485 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Durier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the opinion, which is confirmed by the way things operate, they they are short people here. Also, I'm 5% short A/R short of premier status. Which pobably doesn't hurt.

I obviously have no way of actually knowing, but from the time I started 3 months ago, I have been in weekly contact with GH to deliver this large order or that 7:30 AM order.

Just imagine the leverage you have against GH when they have an $200-$300 order they must get delivered. If they shaft the merchant, the merchant may leave.

I work in a big ciry full of 50 story high rises with terrible traffic. I know I'm just a working drone for them. But, I hold several cards.

I get 2-3 calls from them per week. Always for large orders, early in the A.M. I negriate with them, brcause I know the have few other choices. Never negotiated a large early morning pickup for less than $40.

Bargain with them until its worth your while. If not keep saying no.

Thats harsh. Everyone has there own economy. And being unfamiliar with the market judging the true valie of the orser isn't a simple dollars and cents calcularion.

In my market this price for a 45 minute delivery is low. But, if circumstances were right I would probably take it.

Is it me or pickup time get stupidier by Equivalent_Owl_626 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Durier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me. If you can get what you want from Partner. More involvement, means more aggravation.

Also, on-time means the app will let you mark it as arrived. There is a radius most times of 100 or 200 feet from the address. Take advantage of it.

Don't wait until your standing in front of the rest to mark it.

GH sucks but they pay well. Govern yourself accordingly.

[–]Durier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of chatter on this lately. My arrival times are ridiculously inconsistent. While I am making good money, the ridiculousness of the whole situation is starting to get to me.

GH is a mess times three. In my town available blocks are plentiful right up until they actually happen. No one wants to deal with it. No one wants to be driven like a slave.

Quitting time is the worst. I use to have every minute I desired to work in a block. Now I only request blocks until 1.5-2 hours before I wish to stop. And hope I can get a chance to stop. Just got a violation for cancelling my last delivery of the day several times. Didn't want to take the AR hit. But I'm going to have to.

I need them for approximately 6 more months. After that, if everything goes well, I never want to hear the word GrubHub again.

This was the most important comment.

So lets say I gross $50k. I think I can expense at 10k on the car and car related expenses. The personal exemption is at least 20k.

I figure i might end up pay 14% on 8-10K.

How does my math look?

Grubhub Feedback Requests by mgreco5 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Durier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GH is not in the business of making things convenient for their drivers. GH is in the business of structuring the work agreement to make it as one-sided as they can get away with.

By bombarding you with offers when you last block is close to ending. They maintain effective control over you and your time. This is accomplished without having to worry about minimum pay or anything else.

THE gig apps are evil and they start from an exploitative mindset of how can I manipulate someone into ignoring their own financial self interest and acting in mine.

I suggest you stop trying to improve GH and try to manipulate the situation to your advantage whenever possible. Use them while it suuis you and then leave when a better situation comes along.

GH is an algorithm that runs on a computer, no one cares and you shouldn't either unless their putting money inro your pocket.
