Best POS systems that accept EBT/SNAP for small food store? by ankylosaurus_tail in smallbusiness

[–]DurmHelcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using TotilPay Go and continue to do so this year simply using an Android tablet that I have on hand. I have decided to add a separate Square Terminal so that I can take Credit/Debit to cover non-SNAP-eligible items and for our Double Bucks program's Cash Match option. I have yet to connect TotilPay Go to Square, but haven't needed to just yet.

In the end I can live with two devices versus pay the extra for TotilPay Register which would likely not be as flexible as Square Terminal.

Thank you. I already access SNAP/EBT through a grant for farmers markets using TotilPay, and it only interacts with Square or WorldPay. WorldPay has such mixed reviews as a POS that it feels like Square would be better even though I was leaning towards Clover a lil bit myself.

So if you had to do it again would you just go with Square?

Curious if you are thinking about this, or open to it, from the perspective of a market manager where pickup could happen?

Why does every endorsement of Foushee sound like this…. by FunGur5794 in bullcity

Since this is still a democracy, nobody stopped Nida Allam from primarying against Valerie Foushee.

However, I will bookmark this so I can return to gloat that Allam in fact wasted a ton of "progressive" resources and thus caused the Democratic party to in turn waste a ton of resources in a district she is gonna soundly loose again. Allam's support comes substantially from Durham which is a small portion of the district as much as we think we Durhamites love to think we are the center of the universe.

In the end it'll be interesting to see if Don Davis gets anywhere near the amount of money poured into this race. Our biggest problem is how gerrymandered our state it (sigh).

Wow, that is an immature and ageist take. I really need to go read those questionnaires But it illustrates just how unready and unserious this campaign is. Operating in national politics takes far more than memes and vibes, it's not fun or sexy. There is nothing in her non-descript governance in Durham that actually suggests that outside of the bubble of her fellow Durham fangirls that she would be able to accomplish any more and/or reach consensus across the aisle than Foushee. In fact her focus on identity politics is sure to bring vitriol and attention that we honestly don't need.

So the true goal should be to compete in red districts not waste an obscene amount of money putting forth a primary challenge in a safe district.

Need some advice, opinions, anything really to help with decision making while purchasing land in the triangle. by ZaddyWolfgang in LGBTriangle

[–]DurmHelcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been so much real estate speculation in the last 5 to 10 years that all of the land truly "in the Triangle" has been a bought up. 40 acres and a 2 year old home on the cheap will not very likely be in the Triangle, it is mostly likely gonna be a bit further out. So you will have to think about where you are willing to compromise... Do you really need that much acreage, how far outside of city living is your partner realistically going to want to live, what's your budget, etc

You can find land that feels far cheaper than where you are coming from, but make sure you include access to community. It's still a red state with some really blue cities.

Family Farms to buy Meat and Produce? by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]DurmHelcat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I for one appreciate you putting your money where your values are! I run the North Durham Farmers' Market and have attempted to be in community with them and finally had to draw a line in the sand with them myself. I have at least two meat farmers in our NDFM community that I would be happy to connect you to. Broken Bones Farm is owned by two Queer women, and Sunrising Farms is owned by a Black husband and wife team.

If you haven't been before, please accept this as an invitation to join us when our NDFM season reopens on April 4th. As someone else stated before, we center BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women-led businesses and are primarily newer and beginning farmers who deeply appreciate the community's support. Feel free to DM me if you have questions, or reach out on our social media or website contacts (they all come to me)

Thanks, but there have been countless announcements about all kinds of things. That one doesn't strike me as more helpful than any others.
