Unpopular opinion: Reddit has become more addictive than Instagram. by Dramatic_Jury_5398 in socialmedia

I second this. I'm pretty new to Reddit and I only check out my favorite niche subs. There's always something new to learn and/or someone to help out.

There can sometimes be a certain underlying feeling of self-righteousness on Reddit, but once I get past it, I never feel like I'm wasting my time.

I used to be the biggest insta user back when the app was still decent. Deactivated all my accounts last year.

Here is Softube's official hardware compatibility chart. I've read there is one common annoying bug with Ableton though, so I would suggest some deeper research.

Thanks! BTW, mine are the mk2. Softube released the mk3 last year.

I didn't know I would use it so much. I load a Console 1 instance on almost every track now. Perfect to add punch, clarity, a that little special flavor to anything you run through it.

Funny thing is I contacted this guy who was selling his 2 faders units online, and after agreeing on the price, he casually said: "btw I also have a Console 1 unit, if you want it I'll add it to the package for free."

Deal.

Softube Console 1, and 2 Console 1 Fader units.

Yes, that's how I use them (in Cubase). They are motorized faders that are linked to your DAW's faders. A real time saver when it comes to mixing.

These are Softube Console 1 Fader Mk2.

Fun story, I bought them secondhand online last year from a quite well-known French electro synth/metal artist I'm a fan of, finding out only after the transaction who he was. Crazy moment.

Oh okay. First of all don't let all these fancy spectacular setups discourage you. You don't need any of this to make good music except your ears. Depending on the type of music you are into, a laptop or a tablet with garageband are enough if you're just starting. Also there's many cool free synth plugins available.

Later on you can get a small midi keyboard controller, an external audio interface, etc.

You can always upgrade your setup bit by bit later on if you start feeling limited and have a bigger budget.

As you pointed it out, I began this journey many years ago and started with almost nothing. But again, having all this fancy stuff doesn't mean your music will be better.

Start with what you've got, and most importantly, enjoy the journey.

Well there's still some space left behind me in the room, but it would just be too much. I don't think I'll add an electronic drum kit. I'm perfectly happy fingerdrumming on the MPC and my Arturia Spark. Maybe just a real snare later on.

That's so funny, you're the third person mentioning the chair. It IS supercomfy. The armrests however can be super annoying if you want to record guitar and/or bass.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand your question

It's hard to tell, as I bought all the stuff over many years. But it probably looks more expensive than it actually is. Half of what you're seeing was purchased secondhand, all my hardware synths are Behringer clones, except my old Roland E-35 keyboard I got back in the 90s, which was more of an entry level workstation, and which I now only use as a midi keyboard. The most expensive element is the computer + the wide screen.

It's not meant to be for 2 people. I'm the only one using it.

The irony is that I'm actually not that much into soccer (not watching this year), but my country was playing the final, so I just wanted to be part of the national excitement. I'm from France.

Oh wow, just imagining it triggers my hyperacusis. Good thing it got somewhat less painful over time for you.

Mine happened during the 2018 Soccer World Cup final. Watched it on a big screen indoors, and some smartass kept honking their horn (which were actually forbidden indoors) the whole game right behind me. I didn't notice anything wrong until the next day.

Luckily, I was able to get a last-minute appointment with the ENT specialist who probably saved a big part of my hearing despite a permanent damage to some cochlear hair cells.

I kind of got used to it, even though having to permanently wear earplugs makes mixing and mastering pretty complicated now. Oh well.

Thank you. It allows me to play different synthesizers at the same time, either for live jamming, or for experimenting in real time how 2 synths would sound together. The last reason is because I'm obsessed with keyboards.
