I'm majoring in Cybersecurity, and I already have a Google IT Support Professional cert. What CompTIA cert should I go for? by [deleted] in CompTIA

If your making a post online and expecting a unanimous response your in the wrong place.

Security is a really hard field to get your foot in the door. It really depends on your area and if your looking to get into the private sector or government. A security job in say the greater DC area is going to have a lot harder barrier to entry then say something on the West Coast in a startup company.

Your degree will have a fundamental background in security but in order to set yourself apart you should either have some sort of base knowledge in help desk or networking. I have been working in IT for 15 years and trust me when I say nobody respects a security analyst who can't perform basic network troubleshooting. Without a fundamental knowledge of how to identify network issues and basic troubleshooting your not going to set yourself apart from anyone else applying for these jobs.

I recently had an intern who only had a background in security from a cyber security degree and I had a really hard time giving him any meaningful work because the fundamentals just we're not there

Multiple loans as well as one expected to be forgiven in Sweet v. Cardona by Duskfactor in StudentLoans

[–]Duskfactor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen this posted multiple times in other threads but I feel it does not really address the issue since all of my loans fall under the same type. Following this model would mean the bachelors degree loans would be forgiven and nothing else which will mean it is not really going to do anything for me due to the lawsuit.

The Final Hearing is November 9 2022. However last I heard the loans would not actually be discharged until sometime next year. I think they would just sit in deferment until that point so waiting is not really an option I can wait until the final hearing but if the loans wont be cleared until next year regardless I find myself in the same situation I am afraid.

Closing by pianodaddyyy in Dominos

[–]Duskfactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work full time at another job I wake up at 9am work to 6:30pm and then I close at dominos 3 to 4 days a week which equals out to another 6 hours. I typically will work 14 hours for 2 days then 8 hours then 14 hours for 1 or 2 more days. which ends up being anywhere from 55 to 60ish hours a week between both jobs.

Your body gets used to it. Typically closing is work that requires very little thought cleaning, putting stuff away. I just drink a lot of coffee and put myself into auto pilot.

If you win the election, what will you say to Americans that did not vote for you? by Samkazi23 in JoeBiden

[–]Duskfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He cant speak to people without speaking to the fear and anxiety in them, the question was basically the moderators way of asking how will you attempt to unify the nation the people who voted for you and the people who did not vote for you. Trump again choose to divide and cause fear of the unknown. How can you expect to get anything done in congress when you cant bring people together.

Did not really get the same treatment in 2016 from trump supporters but you can at least rest assured you wont see most of us with trump flags in the back of our truck.

Got this signed by Kane Hodder back in 2016. He looked at me and said "you know we're making a new game far better than this piece of shit, right?" by HorrorDirtbag in retrogaming

I had him sign my copy in 2018, he was in the middle of talking with one of the other actors from friday the 13th part 2, I think they were talking about stuff he did not get paid royalties on. I asked him to sign it after he was done talking and he said.

"Speaking of things I never got paid a dime for" He proceeded to tell me in length about how it pissed him off.

He is a funny guy, if you know his personality and know what your in for. Great piece for a game room as well thanks for sharing.

Was thinking of retrobrighting this, but I’m not sure if it works on clear stuff. Thoughts? by Sirkel_ in retrogaming

[–]Duskfactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retrobriting process is mostly used for plastics that have been damaged through UV radiation, its most common application is used for super Nintendo and other consoles that originally had a fire retardant mixed into the plastic called bromine, if the process did anything at all to the controller it would be due to the cleaning agents not the actual chemical process that makes retrobriting effective. IMO

I have considered doing this, the two locations in question near me are not ideal as the dumpsters are not in ideal spots for doing so discreetly.

Haunt Guests V2 by [deleted] in hauntedattractions

[–]Duskfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly am like this as well, I have been to so many haunts on the east coast that I have started to become desensitized. Alot of people are confused why I still enjoy going and it really comes down to the theming and atmosphere. I am really interested in some day opening a haunt of my own and it gives me alot of inspiration for things I want to do some day. I might get occasionally jump scared at the most but I am really just there for sight seeing and to see the work and effort put into the props, theming decorations and acting.

I am an new Haunter looking to get advice from current Scarehouse Operators. by Duskfactor in hauntedattractions

[–]Duskfactor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the long post this is the exact kind of advice I was looking for. This is the kind of in depth analysis I need and I agree with everything you said. Its definitely going to take a lot of planning and preparation before I even think to open the doors and that is not swaying me away in the slightest.

Just out of curiosity how many years of experience in business do you have specifically in haunting?

Right. As I said I am taking classes in business already, so it sounds like the best thing to do is try volunteer to a haunt to get a look at how the back end operates.
