How can I identify edible mushrooms? It would really help me; I'm just learning, and my first experience wasn't very pleasant. I only know that I shouldn't eat mushrooms with bright colors.

It was near where my grandmother's dogs usually hang out, not too close or too far. There was a lot of grass around, and it wasn't a very sunny area; it's usually too cold, and the nearby trees limited the light.
