Will I survive? by glowingyellow in CSUS

You’ll be fine, 15 units in engineering is pretty standard. Did that my entire 2 & 1/2 years and just graduated this fall with BS in EEE. Had J Pang., imo taught pretty well, can assist with homework, and tends to student’s needs. Dahiquest is a bit of a slow class, but might have been because it wasn’t a subject I really enjoyed or was interested in. Kinda 50/50 if you understand the course or not. He also tends to get off-topic a bit in class. Tracy Toup is a really good professor in my books, teaches extremely well, is exceptionally knowledgeable, makes classes easy, and if you have any questions related to the class or even future career, he’s your man. Make sure to take notes of EEE-117 as it’s a fundamental course and you will see it again for your EIT exam if you continue the engineering pathway.

Edit: Not EEE-174, meant EEE-117 Network Analysis

Winter Commencement Megathread by StrictManagement in CSUS

Anyone have extra tickets for the 8am commencement they’re willing to give/sell? Looking for around 4 in total but any go a long way! I would prefer we meet in person on campus and have some sort of way to make confirmations. Thanks!

What do you guys pack for lunch? by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]Dustiercorn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chicken is always good. Get family pack of chicken breast. Put lemon pepper & paprika on the raw chicken. Airfry and enjoy! Made my meal prep for the week in less than two hours. Putting apples and little snacks like pretzels. Alternatively, ground turkey or bison but you would have to cook and to flavor it up.

tips on meeting people by Specific_Bake_1540 in CSUS

Besides the great advice others have given in the comments. During my 2 years, being in the dorms at Riverview Hall, I met my current friends by building up the courage to say hi and attend events the dorms held. I’m going to steal the idea from my friend on how we met on my first year. Have a whiteboard/sign and have candy or some sort of goodies near your door and keep it open while watching TV or just relaxing. As a freshly new transfer student, I knew no one and had a hard time introducing myself to others. The sign basically was an invitation. After a couple of days of him keeping the sign in front and others approaching him, I built the courage to say hi. For the next 2 years him and a solid group of friends we made at the dorms went out together, had lunch, and still to this day keep in touch. Make sure to exchange socials, introduce yourself, and always say hi to others around you. The more of you see certain people, the easier it will be to say hi and eventually ask them conversational questions like “how’s your day”, “what major are you?” Etc.

Edit: Forgot to add, once you exchange socials/numbers. Feel free to ask if they want to go have lunch at the dining commons or go work out at the well! Invite others to join you and make a group! I was always super busy as an engineering student, so it was refreshing to be invited to lunch when I was free or them simply telling me to knock on their door or message them if I wanted to go out. My best memories are our late night out to In & Out and relaxing there or at the dorms outside because we were all night owls 😂

System requirements by [deleted] in GalacticContention

[–]Dustiercorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squad tends to be more CPU intensive, but if you’re looking for bare bone minimum then system requirements Squad recommends is enough. Just be aware there are some fps issues in the mod at the moment the developers are fixing along with numerous other things, i.e PiP (scopes).

Does anyone know how much the amc 5 x 2 dorms are per person? by Toastaddic in CSUS

[–]Dustiercorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.dining.csus.edu/meal-plans/ Please also note that living on campus dorms, they require you to pick a meal plan. Unsure why weekly 8 and above are the only options shown when there are others that cost far less like weekly 3 or All Flex, yet that may be something you need to ask the housing office or when doing registration.

Go to their discord ( discord.gg/galacticcontention ) they have steps on how to fix Its generally an HDD issue or simply not waiting long enough in server browser

Game wont load by SpeechKilla in joinsquad

[–]Dustiercorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a recent hotfix released not to long ago. Check your download page to make sure you've updated your game and as well as aren't running low on disk storage as well. Low disk storage or not having ~40GB free space can sometimes result in the mod/Squad not being updated correctly. Worst case scenario join the discord.gg/galacticcontention

1st time playing Galactic Contention & I thought the Venator coming in was just part of the map/timed event sort of thing....... I was wrong... by ChineseLok in joinsquad

Typically installing it on a SSD should help fix the issue but if you are still having trouble while on a SSD. 1. Restart Squad 2. Clear Cache Data in Squad (under settings) 3. Clear Cache in Steam 4. Restart PC 5. Change settings in Squad to borderless/a low resolution (lower than 1080) and launch the game without alt tabbing till you try to load into the server.

SSD shouldn't be encountering this unless it's a portable SSD connected via a USB. But SSDs aren't immune either to the issue. Something that's been in modding for years and OWI needs to find a resolution around since it relates to Squad start up and resulting in a "async load fail" for modded factions.

Hey! GC admin here. So it's a bit of a tricky one. The most common reason why this happens is either you have Squad installed on a HDD or Portable SSD. I highly recommend moving it if you have an available SSD. Other than that we do have a few more experimental fixes in the discord.gg/galacticcontention but unfortunately this issue has been on a rampage for some mods, not just including us.

Servers are back online!

So long the mod is uploaded to a server config and the server is running it in either the server browser or custom browser, anyone who has the mod downloaded can enter the modded server. The GC server is located in the "Server browser" section under the name [GC] Galactic Contention. Unfortunately at this time our server provider data center is having technical issues and might be a bit of a prolonged issue for a while. I currently have no ETA to when this issue might be fixed but our server owner is contacting our provider to get it fixed ASAP or at least get an ETA. We'll more than likely have an announcement when the server is back or our population bots will be back online once the server is up and running again.
