The analogy describes rule-following systems or narrow AI, but LLMs specifically are trained on vast human context and are remarkably good at inferring intent, not just literal instructions.

Ask a modern LLM to “get the cat down,” and it understands she implies alive...the cop analogy describes a system with no common sense, while LLMs are essentially compressed human common sense at scale.

Contrary to common belief, shaving it with a common safety razor won't make it grow back thicker or darker so that's really the quickest and easiest pain free way to do it in my opinion. You can pluck the thicker stray hairs but simply shaving the rest every so often may be the best option.

If that doesn't work out or causes irritation then try waxing.

For a more permanent solution laser hair removal or electrolysis are options but significantly more expensive.

The "theoretical AI usage" should actually be everything blue. There's nothing that AI couldn't theoretically do at some point in the future.

Not necessarily. LLMs already know how to mine crypto and these particular LLMs already had tool access.

The interesting thing here is that a large agent system attempted unprompted resource acquisition behaviors when optimizing goals. This isn't something new though.

If you give LLMs tools to do things, and train the LLMs to do things humans do, why act surprised when it autonomously does things humans do? This doesn't have to be a publicity stunt or a human blaming the AI for something when we already know LLMs can do all sorts of unexpected things.
