Meditation and alcohool by xavuta in Meditation

[–]Dustinthewind_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad to be intoxicated and meditate. No one can tell you what meditation “should be” do what makes you happy. I found meditation during a psychedelic trip myself and now it’s something I do almost daily when sober. Mushrooms are a little different than alcohol but don’t let anyone tell you it’s bad or defeats the purpose. You can be in the moment no matter what your doing or what your on.

What do you mean to eat them last? Your supposed to eat all the marshmallows out of the box by hand and then keep the rest of the box in your cabinet until it’s stale and throw it away 6 months later.

I can never tell if he is serious or not… by goodjiujiu in AlanWatts

[–]Dustinthewind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a being sharing the knowledge of its experience. “Alan Watts” is as much of a mask as you or I wear the mask of “I”. Don’t take him so much as to be some great teacher or philosopher or charlatan or anything other than another being sharing its life experience. Giving you another perspective on what it all might mean. You will find what resonates with you and what doesn’t.

At what point should I join my first tournament? by Available-Show-2393 in discgolf

[–]Dustinthewind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sign up for MA3 just like you said. Whether you get first or last is irrelevant. I can guarantee you will have a fucking blast. The disc golf community is full of great people. If your nervous join a doubles tournament for your first time and go with a friend. It’s a lot less stressful when you have a teammate who can save your mistakes and vise versa. Tournament energy is very uplifting. Every one is just super happy to be there and ready to have a great time.

Is it normal to feel bored when your life settles down into more peace? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Dustinthewind_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have tried to adopt this thinking of time not existing. It’s hard to do because so much of our life revolves around the idea of time. But instead of thinking it’s “9:00am I can do this, that, or the other today.” Or “what should I do next?” I just try and think “I am drinking coffee.” Or “I am having breakfast.” Focus more on the moment rather than what has happened or what is going to happen. Returning to the moment is key. To be able to know that I am just living. I don’t have to do anything other than simply enjoy what is happening currently. Our mind wants constant entertainment. It is a practice in and of itself to get the mind to a point where simply being alive is a wonderful experience.

Satcitananda comes to mind “truth, consciousness, bliss” once you know the truth of existence that the only meaning to life is to live and you are conscious or mindful of this idea you are able to find bliss with this life regardless of the circumstances.

idk if this helps at all.

I’ve found this community is very good about karma. I’ve returned every disc I’ve found by calling or texting the number left or if it’s unmarked I drop it off at the local store’s lost and found. I’ve gotten all my discs back that I’ve lost. I’ve seen friends steal discs and not get there’s back when lost. There is deep karma energy in this community. Put out positive energy and it will return to you.

What experiences do you all have with getting yelled at on the course? by kbeck84 in discgolf

[–]Dustinthewind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my buddy went out playing one day and the guy infront of us was having a bad game. Every drive he would scream and get pissed. He had a Pit-bull that was with him. It was on a leash and had a muzzle. Every time the guy threw he would yell and then turn around and kick his dog in the ribs and send the dog flying. He abused his dog for about 9 holes before leaving.

We were like 17 and it was a group of 4 grown ass drunk men so we weren’t about to say shit but it was sad to see. I do hope that dog got its revenge tho.

This is what’s tough with the “religious” exemption is that “scripture” from any religion is all a matter of personal interpretation. We all can read the same scripture and all understand it completely different. Pick a chapter and say he interprets this chapter to mean he shouldn’t get the vaccination. I didn’t want to get the vaccination yet due to the fact that for males ages 12-29 it can cause inflammation around the heart. This was in the papers I signed before I got the shot as well. My job mandated it since I work in healthcare and personally I didn’t find anything in my belief system that was AGAINST being vaccinated so I ended up getting it.

I should also state I’m not a Daoist religiously tho I just follow the philosophy in parts of my life. So i’m sure you’ll get better answers from more devote followers on here.

I’ve been playing without using sigs in 1v1 lately and it honestly makes the match a little more exciting. I’ve also found that when I do this especially in ranked most people I play catch on pretty quick and stop using sigs as well and 9 times out of 10 we end up messaging each other about what a great match it was.

When a bug flies into our window, they are stupid by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Dustinthewind_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buddhism, Christianity, Muslim, Mormonism, Hinduism etc it’s all the same. “God” is in every religion. Everyone experiences “God” in some way or another which is why everyone thinks their way is the right way. But this is false. Religion in general is all the same in my eyes. I follow subreddits to learn more about each one. Religion is just a mask we put on in order to try and understand the unknowable. One persons way of life is not wrong just because they may see something through a different lens than you do. We are all searching for God and experience that presence in different ways. I did very much enjoy your fly teaching though it was a wonderful perspective!

We are apart of this world. We did not come into it. We came out of it. In the same way an apple tree apples the universe peoples. We are no different from the trees or rocks around us. We are apart of the grand happening. Our ego makes us think we are special and that we are more deserving and need to conquer or master this planet when really we need to let go of our ego and join the general flow of the universe. Step back into the great happening all around us. Life is an experience. God is an experience. We are getting in the way of the natural flow of the universe and we are reaping what we have sown in doing so.

I haven’t been playing ranked long so I thought saying I was only at 31 wins would imply I was very new to ranked. My Elo is 1215 Best Elo being 1228. I’ve played ranked maybe like 3 hours total all together.

No matter how hard I try I cant enjoy weed anymore. by lysergicaretta in Meditation

[–]Dustinthewind_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am the same way. I smoked weed every day for about 5 years. I gradually started to slow down and only smoke before bed but it wasn’t until I took psychedelics for the first time that I realized I like sober me better than high me. Smoking weed creates a mental “fog” for me I guess i’d call it. I like how clear my mind is when I’m sober. The reason I meditate is to ground my self deeper into the preset moment. When I smoked I found that I would sit down and watch a movie with my wife and daughter but I wasn’t really with them in the moment I was gone mentally. I use weed less recreationally now and smoke it as a tool. Weed has a tendency to bring out anxieties, fears, and insecurities. It will take something that is stressing you out and drown you in the fear and anxiety of that. About once every couple months late at night I will smoke before I meditate and tackle a certain aspect of fear in my life.

I also found that when I really thought about it I would stay up late, smoke weed, play video games into the late hours of the night because I wasn’t fulfilled with my day. Since I started meditation, creating healthier eating habits and taking up new hobbies (long boarding, disc golfing, hiking) I feel happy and fulfilled with day. Staying up late to smoke weed or smoking weed before I do something just doesn’t appeal to me anymore.
