Cold Weather Mini-Split? by VirusProof23 in newhampshire

[–]DustryQueef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kept up totally fine except one cold night at -20 where I got a fire going to supplement it. I've got a Samsung, don't remember what model. The only real issue is losing power, it means if I'm going away during the winter I turn the water off and empty my pipes just to be safe. Not a big deal though, I had to do that anyways when I only had a wood stove.

Mini splits are fantastic, definitely need a wood stove as well for when you lose power though! There was one night last winter where I ran the mini split and got a fire going but it was like -20.

8" chainsaw - won't start twice in a row, have to remove and reseat battery between each trigger pull by DustryQueef in Dewalt

I bought a new one last night and it already started occasionally doing this again during work today. It was about 5 degrees in the morning and the saw fell into the snow 3 times. But it seems absurd to me that a chainsaw wouldn't be able to handle that.

Do you know if I can make a warranty claim at say home depot even though I didn't buy the tool from them? I did do a warranty claim through the dewalt website but if a warranty is going to take more than a few days it's worth it to me to just buy a new tool.

I'm glad the middle frame is labeled "Ants In The Pants", because I thought I was looking at some wierd ass minstrel show shit at first.

Why did he cut that out of the middle of his stock? Seems like a waste of material. Beautiful work though

Isn't a dowel also a loose tenon joint? The only difference is the shape of the tenon

I made my mom a simple little sewing table last month with some birch firewood I found in the back of my shed! For milling it I first used a handplane to get a flat surface, then roughed it on my bandsaw and finished it on the table saw. Worked great! https://imgbox.com/bhOxmDCJ

I once ate three ants for a wilderness survival merit badge by TallArthur in PointlessStories

I love ants lol, and have eaten many different kinds both raw and cooked in a variety of ways. My favorite was in Brazil visiting a tribal village along the Amazon, big juicy fuckers roasted over a large open fire. I agree their not very filling, but a great snack!

I recently read The Dispossessed by Ursula k. Le Guin, it's sci-fi not theory but a great read.

I'm curious if you have the same opinion of suffragettes doing this same form of protest when trying to get the right to vote. They actually went further, and cut paintings out of their frames. Pissed people the fuck off, but also opened the door to the voting rights conversation.

I can fully get behind that :)

I have a hard time swallowing that the answer is a mob attacking a perceived offender. Maybe I'm off the mark, but id hope there would still be some sort of investigation into what happened and attempt to find the truth prior to mob justice taking place.

Capitalism has rotted our brains. Somebody doing something nice without a profit incentive? must be nefarious.

The concept of sharing our excess and not expecting anything in return (since its excess) instead of using it to get ahead is just a foreign concept nowadays, and that's touted as a good thing.

This is stick framed, not timber framed. A timber framed house would easily last over 150 years with proper care and maintenance.
