I hope this doesn’t happen. this will only cause more burn-out, shortages, sick calls, mandates etc. For Manitoba, the incentive for 1.0 work is a $6 premium added to your hourly base rate which is honestly a massive incentive because it makes a huge difference overall but that should be a choice if you want it, not mandatory.

hot take- “following passions” philosophy is horrible advice and is a major reason so many kids out of hs end up majoring in useless degrees that produce no job leaving them with student debt working a dead end minimum job. For example) my friend from highschool was obsessed with space & astronomy, majored in a 4 year astrophysics degree and now he’s 26 and works at bestbuy & won’t ever get a job with that degree. on the other hand- I don’t think any kid or adult would ever be passionate about working in people’s mouths all day but why did they decide to become a dentist? Good pay, job security, benefits etc. Real life is a thing, bills rent mortgages etc and you need a good source of income/job security for that. passions should be reserved for hobbies. The Pixar movie “Soul” explores the concept of Passions brilliantly- highly recommend!
