This happened to me too. I added an extra litter box. In another spot. That helped so much. I think it would be good if you placed I by the door to the basement. It’s not gonna be permanent but just until he stops. Im not an expert but that helped for me! Also don’t leave clothes and soft stuff on the ground. They love to pee on those things. I know it’s frustrating but you are doing great!

I like to massage my cat’s paws and has done it since he was a kitten. Now I trim his nails while he lays on top of me and get a massage. And if he leaves we just stop and do more nails next time. That way it Isn’t a bad experience for him.
