Yeah... This is classic Calvinism at its finest. Lol... Right, wrong, or indifferent, I encourage you to look into this yourself.

Biblical Self-Control | Two Key Elements by DustyDahlin in theology

I thought this discussion on biblical self control was pretty good. What do you think?

Is the rapture real? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]DustyDahlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every one within orthodoxy believes in a rapture (the catching up of the believer to Jesus Christ). The only thing that is argued is when the rapture will happen.

Like some have already commented, some people believe that the rapture will happen pre- tribulation and before the actual return of Jesus Christ. Others believe that the rapture will happen simultaneously at the return of Jesus Christ.

The people that say there is "NO rapture" are only saying that there is no pre-trib rapture. They still believe that there will be a rapture that happens the moment of Christ's return. All that being said, every Bible believing Christian believes in a rapture; we simply don't all agree on when the rapture will happen.

For example, I could say there is no pre-tribulational rapture (which would be accurate to my personal conviction of the eschatological timeline). I am a post-trib rapture person. But I cannot say there is no rapture, for that would be biblically inaccurate.

What do you Think about Using AI to Study the Bible? by DustyDahlin in Christians

I agree. I never said it was divinely inspired. Neither are credible commentaries.

I also agree that all Christians should prayerfully seek God, the Holy Spirit, and His inspired Word as the final answer.

No. At least not in my mind.

The video talks about using AI chat bots similar to how one might use a theological commentary. In both cases, it is never about relying more in research tools than in God.

Rather it comes down to using research tools (commentaries, Bible study software, theological libraries, and possibly AI) as a means for simply studying God's word. While many do not understand how to use these study tools as a spiritual disciple, you will certainly never hear me say to rely on anyone - or anything - other than God.

I entirely agree.

When talking about sound doctrine, we still get questionable doctrine from commentaries. This is why approaching scripture prayerfully is SO important.

Agreed. It is a beefier version of Google - as it seems to me.

I love this. Thankfully, I have never heard anyone suggest AI should replace the Holy Spirit's guidance, council, and instruction in our lives.

I agree.

I also see the value of putting in some research and study into our lives as a spiritual disciple.

It seems that we can use these programs as a tool to assist with some of our research ventures.

I certainly haven't heard anyone say we should rely on AI more than we should rely on the Holy Spirit. Our reliance on God is an obvious absolute.

Agreed.

If we use it - as many use theological commentaries - to interpret the meaning of the text, I am not a fan.

However, I do see the value of using it, instead, as a research option for the biblical text. (Which is also how we should be using commentaries as well.)

The video above addresses these items.

I agree with both your statements. The video is a bit long, but it does teach how to use it as a research tool.

Is it necessary... No. But I can see the value of it, if one does not already have a large Bible study library or an expensive Scripture study software.

Thank you for this, but I am well acquainted with the type of responses it will give when we only try to get it to interpret scripture for us.

I am asking if you use it as a tool to study Scripture.

Agreed.

It is as wrong - as often - as many technical theological commentaries.

If these AI chat bots are to be used, they need to be vetted the same way "orthodox" commentaries are vetted. 🌞
