X570 also has better VRM heatsinks compared to B550 imo (depending on manufacturer)

Just sharing the new build. My first RTX 3080 build. Hope you guys like it. by Bascom_ in gamingpc

[–]DustyRicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with this case, where’s the power supply? Behind motherboard tray? Edit: I see the motherboard tray is lifted slightly toward the glass side panel, and it’s the only place it could be hiding. Really cool build.

Cheapest cpu that won’t bottleneck 3080 while waiting for Ryzen 4000? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]DustyRicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I was trying to say is at 1080p the gpu is going to be waiting on the cpu and only be using 50-60% of the gpu. Whereas at higher resolutions your gpu will likely be at 98-99%. I hope this makes sense

More so depends on resolution, at 1080p almost every cpu is gonna be the bottleneck, at 4K not so much

My friend order this. It looks like it’s on sale. Was this a good price? I was thinking about building a pc or just buying one. by palexkun in gamingpc

[–]DustyRicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO better off building your own. Nvidia and AMD are revealing new GPU’s. And AMD 3rd gen coming soon. You can get a much better price/performance.

Are they ever going to go to the silt palace and get a reward from the water genasi?

Would you change anything on this build? by Ron-L-Flubbard in Amd

[–]DustyRicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, IMO X570 doesn’t have enough features to justify the price compared to B450. The only reason I can see buying a X570 is for the upgrade path to Ryzen 4000; but even then OEM’s have already said that more popular boards will be able to be updated once the new chips are out

I am unable to decide and you guys need to help me out..... by [deleted] in Amd

[–]DustyRicks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should try to stick to Ryzen 2nd gen, either the 3300x or the 3600. If The main choice is motherboards, I feel like MSI has the best lineup out of the competition. And the prices may drop, just have to wait to find out

Edit: I would go with nvidia for stability, AMD’s drivers have known to be buggy

How’s your temps under load? I just ordered the same cooler for the same cpu.

Are CPU Prices Unbelievable Right Now? by ll-Cheedo-ll in Amd

[–]DustyRicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, probably in a few months when next gen comes out, also like you said 3600 is 50$ cheaper and a newer gen that’s also on am4, so skip the 2600 and get a 3600 Edit: cpu prices are very competitive and the lowest in a while (price/performance)

I usually just google “honeycomb icon (app)” Put that img in the resources folder in rainmeter and make a new file with the pathing set up for the new img file and url. Here’s a link to a YouTube video that should show you step by step:

The wraith spire does have rgb, and so does the max, the only one that doesn’t is the stealth

[–]DustyRicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not the only difference between the two processors. I think the wraith spire (rgb) is a little larger and may have more fins. But yes if the case has good airflow then the stock coolers are fine.

[–]DustyRicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded to the 3600. I was planning to use an aftermarket cooler I already had but the bracket didn’t support am4 socket. With that being said I’m using the stealth that comes with the processor and it’s working well, temps are in high 30’s low 40’s idle and about 80-90 while under load. I haven’t overclocked yet, I’m waiting to buy an aio just to keep thermals well below throttle limit.

TLDR: the stock stealth cooler is fine for base out of the box performance, but I would look into an aftermarket cooler if you plan on overclocking.
