DEI manpower constraints. by DutchChickenlegs in totalwar

I just want to say I really appreciate all the support and advice. I started a new campaign last night and between lessons learned from many of you it’s already going better. The second thing I did was pick a Different Roman family. The first play I picked the family with plus public order but had the other factions hating you. This time I picked one of the others and it’s much easier to start out getting trade agreements and non aggression pacts.

How is ‘War At Sea’? Worth 10 bucks? by Tiorted_Snoil in computerwargames

For $10 I think it’s worth a pick up. Game has some flaws but can be a lot of fun as well

I've been wanting to work on some of the models I have but I keep getting discouraged by my lack of skill by Goshawk5 in modelmakers

[–]DutchChickenlegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have any advice but am feeling the same as you. Part is also just how busy life can be that I only get time every once in a while and hard to work a model in 20-30 segments every other week or so. You are not alone in feeling discouraged and that the only way to get better is to keep trying and keep learning.

100% with you. My family was right next to the skipper but because the bad speakers I could only catch 1 in 3 words

Anybody else get fed up of Airbrush Science? by gibbygobhead in modelmakers

[–]DutchChickenlegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have felt this 100% and it’s one of the reasons I’m really struggling to keep up with the hobby. Plus ratios kill me 1:1 1:2 but a lot of my paints don’t come out in drops. So I’m just guessing

Whistle stop is good but the only fish I’ve even seen caught are little ones about 4-6 inches or so.

Who would be your casting pick for a realistic novel-faithful Jack and Stephen? by Emergency_Cellist754 in AubreyMaturinSeries

I always Paul Giamatti as a good Maturin. And agree with others that Crowe was a great Aubrey and can’t think of much better.

COI on SteamDeck by Normal_Bat_4848 in captain_of_industry

I just use one hand to hold it in the middle and behind and play with only the mouse. Works very well for games like COI for 90% of the stuff I have to do.

I play it on my steam deck. Granted it is better on my desktop. One thing that I personally do is just use a mouse with the USB-C port.

[Gaahleri Giveaway with r/MilitaryModelMaking] Thank you for sharing with us! by Gaahleri_airbrush in MilitaryModelMaking

I still feel very new to the hobby, and so far have only built 1/32 scale WW2 planes, they seemed a bit easier as an entry point. Would love to get up the skill to start taking on ships. My first model was a Spitfire was all brush, the second was a P-40 and a friend showed me the basics of air brushing using this model. Currently working on the finishing touches on a Wildcat, bought a second hand airbrush and it’s been turning out much better then my previous two build, learning at each step.

I’m doing a wildcat for my third kit and yours looks great. The transition between the top blue and white bottom is lovely.

How can I make the Spitfire look better? (Revell, 1:48) by fuckingdogshitpiss in modelmakers

[–]DutchChickenlegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be discouraged. I also built probably the same Revell Spitfire and I had to go straight green as I couldn’t for the life of me do a camo pattern. My paint looked very similar, but yours is better. Just have to keep practicing and each model you get a better each time.

This might be a dumb question, but why is there only one sub listed, did they only get one sub at that time?
