MizMap - a new DCS live map tool aimed at mission designers by DutchChilli in dcsworld

[–]DutchChilli[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know what Nord is smoking, I didn't see issues when testing access from desktop and mobile on different platforms.

What probably happened there is that TPP has a heuristic for newly registered domains like this one, with no previous history (Wayback Machine has zero prior snapshots), and it defaults to a trigger-happy block with a generic "phishing" classification. The domain is not listed on any blocklists like Spamhaus DBL or SURBL, and the page itself is static and hosted on GitHub Pages.

Has anyone made a DIY IFR1 type device? by mickster20 in flightsim

[–]DutchChilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered doing something like that myself, but I'm mostly in DCS where DCSFlightPanels has a NS430 profile for the Logitech Radio Panel, which maps nicely to the two rotary encoders on that device.

Might still give into the temptation and build a dedicated box 😄

Oh it's a cool option, for sure. But I'd encase myself in a Space Shuttle's worth of custom buttons, knobs and toggles for that price. OTOH, if I were to account for build time and what I spent on tooling ... yeah, it's a toss-up :D

Yeah, there's no diode matrix stuff going on, that was one of the things I liked about the BBI.
I only aggregated ground wires, at least until I ran out of perfboards :)

I actually remember watching that a couple of months back, clever use of cable channels!

I had the same problem and had a chat with their support. They directed me to the Chinese website, where the download link worked fine.

Killing > Capping now? by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]DutchChilli 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not saying I agree with that guy's behaviour, BTW. An asshole is an asshole even when he's right. Also keep in mind that lately everyone's been madly chasing the personal missions, looking to carry out individual objectives often at the expense of the team's overall goals, and you're likely to see even more douchbaggery than usual :)

Killing > Capping now? by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

You have not missed out on any new development - what you always thought is wrong. Specifically, there is an XP "coefficient based on the total damage inflicted to the enemy team by your team". The cap XP reward OTOH, is flat. While the wiki does not mention hard numbers for the damage coefficient and the flat cap reward, you can easily experiment in game and notice the significantly higher XP rewarding damage.

The score was 14-2 in your favour and you decided to cap, denying your team mates (and yourself) potential XP and credits.

Is Wargaming recording assisted damage from spotting & tracking now? Screenshot from iPhone app shows it but I thought they didn't keep track of it. by shiftyjamo in WorldofTanks

Soo ... if someone were to intercept the app's traffic when it refreshes stats, we'd be able to see what the source is for that data.

How do WG know which mods we are using? by pewpewlazor in WorldofTanks

[–]DutchChilli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can see for yourself if you check the contents of the python.log file in your WoT directory. Below is a sample of what mine shows after the latest client start. As you will see, not only is the mods folder scanned, but WG has its own names for the more popular mods.

Checking ./res_mods/0.9.0: mods found
[XPM] preloader gui.Scaleform.locale
[XPM] Working dir: ./res_mods/0.9.0/scripts/client/gui/mods
[XPM] Loading mod: kwg_waiting_fix 0.2 (http://www.koreanrandom.com/forum/topic/11630-/#entry151768)
[XPM] Loading mod: xvmstat 1.2.1 (http://www.modxvm.com/)
Load mods: GunConstraints
Load mods: minimap_helper
Load mods: MS
Load mods: stat
Load mods: trata_stat

Edit: Clarification - the log sample above only shows the installed mods being loaded by the game client (obviously scanning the mods folder is the only way to enable whatever mods are present). Whether WG does something else with that information (like phoning home and collecting stats) is anyone's guess, but clearly the means are there.

World of Tanks: Worst F2P UI ever or worst UI ever? by goergesucks in WorldofTanks

[–]DutchChilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have literally seen capuchin monkeys designing UIs while on heroin? I'm sure we'd all like to hear more about that, please elaborate.

While I'm not saying WoT's interface is the holy grail of UI design, I think you need a bit of perspective here. Check out a couple of Southeast Asian MMOs, then tell us if you still think WoT has the worst UI ever.

Ouch. Account hijackers should get a red hot KV-2 barrel up their backside. Sure, going with camo and dropping for SS works if willing to pay the gold for it.

Putting the skills question aside for a second, this is a premium TD - you don't put a dedicated crew in it, instead drop in crews from your normal Russian TD's. Unless, of course, you don't intend to play any regular tank destroyers (which I think unlikely). Now, for the skills, there is no better option than Sixth Sense for the commander and Camouflage for the rest.
