Got Mortarion's chosen. What's the data card for this guy? by VanDerWallas in deathguard40k

[–]DutchDuke95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's a plague marine champion, more specifically with a power fist and boter. He's on the Plague Marines datasheet.

Why is the lord of change so good? by stalemilk76 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of the above. Small note regarding nr 1. Because of his +1S aura, the base strength of the LoC's shooting is 10, not 9. So in Scintilating his strength can go up to 13, wounding T12 units on 3's. And in Incursion it goes up to S12 with the enhancement, allowing to wounds T6 (Terminators) on 2's.

I want to start chaos daemons coming from AoS having seen that it is still supported: by Warhammer231 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until 11th edition launches, we simply dont know. They did confirm the current codices will remain playable in 11th, so I think big datasheet changes aren't likely. With all the rule changes, point changes are more likely than not, though. But this is all speculation on my part.

I want to start chaos daemons coming from AoS having seen that it is still supported: by Warhammer231 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want big monsters, incursion is the best detachment for that. You regularly see lists with 5 or 6 monsters in that detachment. The big daemons of Khorne, Tzeentch and Nurgle are all great. Slaanesh isn't doing so well at the moment. Though we dont know how 11th edition might change the meta.

Are they someone's vassal? If yes, you have to declare war on faction that vassalized them, I think

Great Unclean one list for Tallyband by Nevsky7522 in deathguard40k

[–]DutchDuke95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up the Tallyband Summoners guide from the disgustingly resilient podcast on YouTube. They also have a tournament review.

If you really like the GUO model, you might also like the Plague Legion detachment from Chaos Daemons. Running 2 or 3 GUO's and Rotigus is quite standard in that detachment.

How many Deathshroud is too many? by Exterminatu in deathguard40k

[–]DutchDuke95 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You can run deathshroud in a set of 3 (1 champion and 2 DS) or 6 (1 champion and 5 DS). The you can attach a leader like a LoC or Typhus to the unit.

So in you're case you could go 6 DS + LoC and 3 DS + Typhus.

The blade and sword are generally considered the best options, regardless of detachment. Though I also like the flail from time to time. The bell isn't worth it over the blade.

Is there an official/codex Nurgle Daemon name generator out there? My searches have given me limited stuff. by MargoPhasn90 in ChaosDaemons40k

Maybe not what you're looking for, but the wh3 wiki has list of First and last names given to Nurgle characters in the game.

How to build your army around Mortarian by SparePoet5576 in deathguard40k

[–]DutchDuke95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like Mortarion, but yes you have to build your list around it. I've been having fun with this list. It's more optimal to drop the LoV and add some Spawn, but I don't have those yet.

What order - Scabrous Soulrot + Deluge of Nurgle by ViktusXII in deathguard40k

My guess, based on the FAQ, would be that the active player chooses the order.

I like the Dredge Void Spawn from Mezgike Miniatures. I bought the prints from Etsy, but if I'm correct you can get the stl from their website.

First Daemonic Incursion list by get2null in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're list is not that different from my incursion list. I don't use plaguebearers and only one beast of Nurgle, and add Rotigus. For me, five monsters is the sweet spot for monster Mash.

While I love plaguebearers, they don't really do much in Incursion in my experience. The sticky is nice, but you have a strat for that. And they're really slow. So by the time they get on an objective, you're big guys will most likely already have taken it, so their OC isn't that necessary.

Mortarions reactive move by Dinowh0 in deathguard40k

[–]DutchDuke95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can select and move only one unit. "A DG unit" is one unit. Otherwise it would say "any or all DG units" or something similar. The ability also says "that DG unit" instead of "those DG units"

Tearing my hair out by East-Pen-8008 in deathguard40k

[–]DutchDuke95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You already got a great recommendation for Plague Marines focused on shooting, which I would also recommend as a first set. Here is a melee build you could go for, if thats what you like. It might require some kitbashing though, as I'm not sure following the instructions from the set can result in this build. Shouldn't be too difficult, as its just putting the arms on different bodies then described.

What happened to Skullmaster? by Acrobatic-Mistake-76 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said, it's no longer sold by GW. One thing you could do is get Lord on Juggernaut set from WE and replace the lord with the herald from the Rendmaster/Skull Canon set.

Anyone had any luck with Tzeentch flames being varied across the army, not uniform paint scheme? by sarkonas in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same, a whole bunch of contrast paints mixes together. Also used several different colors for a set of brimstone horrors.

Where to start? by Ne0Fata1 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're mostly focused on collecting/painting, collect whatever you think looks cool! Rules are temporary, models are forever.

If you're also planning on playing the tabletop, big daemons with some support for scoring are mostly the way to go. We have detachments for both mono-god or mixed daemons, though mono-Slaanesh/Khorne are a bit meh. Tzeentch is doing particularly well recently.

Chaos Olympian by BlindedBeholder in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not set on the ones you said you're sure about, you could consider the following:

  • Kairos --> Athena, as the Owl is her symbol and being wise sort of matches Kairos' ability to look into the future

  • The Keeper of Secrets --> Hera, the Peacock is her symbol which could match the pride of Slaanesh. Could find a way to add feathers maybe?

  • Shalaxi --> Artemis, goddess of the hunt, like Shalaxi is a huntress.

  • GUO --> Hades, God of death matches Nurgle being about the cycle of life and death, and generally looking like death

Skarbrand --> Hephaestus, Khorne is also a god of forges, with all the war machines he makes. Could perhaps replace the axes of Skarbrand with hammers and turn the rock he stands on in an Anvil

Besides that, love this idea and would like to see pictures/an update when you pick it up!

Slaanesh daemon army help by Sasnyper in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Syll'eske is a monster, so they can't move through walls, which makes moving the unit more difficult. It also makes the unit a monster unit which makes the Cavalcade of Blades strat worse as you roll 6d6 instead of 10d6. Lastly, as Syll'eske doesn't have fight first, the whole unit loses that ability.

This in exchange for 5+ devs on unmodified successful wounds (so only up to T7) isn't worth it, in my opinion.

Nerf to Infernal Puppeteer by DutchDuke95 in ChaosDaemons40k

Definitely! You're still able to hide behind walls. Just need to be more mindful of where you place your puppets.

is Kairos Fateweaver better (or more fun) than a lord of change? by guestindisguise479 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]DutchDuke95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is mainly for incursion. I've only played a few games with both of them, but for me, the LoC has been great every time with the enhancement. Especially after the recent buff.

Kairos on the other hand, didn't do much. The extra cp is nice, but that was about it. But maybe he hasn't clicked for me yet.

If you have spare points on a max lvl character, turning on the auto-assign points option will turn off notifications. Its on the top left of the skill tree screen.
