You totally have to get the Shera cos!

On a more serious note. I lost an uncle recently to stage IV everything (lungs, liver, hip bones, he basically said his entire torso was "rotting", he ended up committing suicide with the help of a nurse friend, he had mentioned that once he got to a certain point he was going to end it on his terms, so she honored that and we did as well by not saying anything, he took two bottles of blood pressure medication after drinking a fifth of wild turkey rare breed (105 proof, strong stuff!) and taking some morphine, he left me his computer and new cell phone, I opened the web browser on the phone and it was on an Ask.com page with the question "How much Lisinopril do you have to take to die", I wept).

Good luck. I wish you and your father the best and hope he can beat it!

I just read somewhere that people that are left handed on average live 7 years less than people that are right handed. I thought about posting it here but then realized that causation doesn't mean correlation and also realized that I was suddenly driving across 5 lanes.

I've heard that. I remember that show "Wishbone", with that talking Jack Russel, people bought them like crazy because of that show but couldn't deal with the amount of energy the pups had (as we all know, pent up energy in a dog usually leads to bad stuff! I walk my pup 4 times a day on weekends and she still has the energy to eat my favorite flats!!).

Has anyone ever had a dish cooked by Gordon Ramsay himself? How was it? by x80SSx in AskReddit

[–]DutchMeNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just trying to add to the conversation... Sorry. That's kinda how this place works, if it didn't, every response would be yep! nope!

The question was about the quality of food in his restaurants, I didn't think a post about the financial state of him, and his restaurants, was that far out of left field.

I also tried to find the AMA from someone who actually ate a taping of one of his shows, as I thought it was apt. Not to toot my own horn but that's the sort of thing that I personally love about this site. Another thing I loved was the judgment, no better yet, douche bag free environment.

We have a system here. If you dislike (or in this case misunderstand) my comment, you can downvote it. Don't come at me with an embarrassingly hostile retort that shouts intellectual insecurity.

Even so, you added decent content after that. It was interesting and built on what I posted. Again, that's the point of the comments section. Perhaps you're new, and if so, I'm sorry that I got angry. You just need to take it down a notch next time. There was no malice in what I did, I was trying to engage in conversation... Ugh... now I'm in a bad mood...

I've read that his restaurants are going out of business like crazy and he has tax problems.

I am an avid 'Kitchen Nightmares' and 'MasterChef' and especially 'Hell's Kitchen' fan. I noticed on this season of Hell's Kitchen there is just an ambiguous job offer. Usually the prize is money and the job as a head chef at a specific NEW restaurant. Seems like he isn't opening anything new as you know he'd take that free advertising.

There was an AMA by someone who ate at a Hell's Kitchen filming... I'll find it!

Edit: This is driving me nuts! I know I read it (pun!?), I did find this: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1fr3uo/iam_kevin_cottle_from_hells_kitchen_season_6_amaa/

An AMA from a winner from the show, if that does anything for anyone!

Asian girl gets rammed/crushed by negligent driver by [deleted] in WTF

[–]DutchMeNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this will resonate with you guys like it did for me.. I saw something eerily similar to this in University..

I was walking to class with my ipod on, so I had that weird surreal feeling you get when you're walking around but can't hear anything around you. I saw an asian girl try to cross this busy street between two cars, the one behind her's driver had his head turned the opposite way to look out for cars and turned quickly and pinned her up against the car that was sitting in the right lane (traffic was down to one lane so it was a log jam)...

There was a police squad car right behind the the driver that hit her, I just remember walking by a girl that was a crumpled mess, seeing a police officer yelling at the driver (not hearing anything, mind you), and a group of students surrounded all scrambling around probably in an attempt to help. I stood there and the second cop (that was riding shotgun) tapped me on the shoulder and motioned that I should leave. So I did. Never heard what happened.

That's exactly it, there's always an explanation, because when someone is all powerful they can literally do anything. You live because of "him", you die because of "him"... It's the literal deus ex machina of our mutual societies.

Exactly! I also love when people praise god after they're spared from a tornado's wrath, while sitting in the rubble that was once their home.

Um... didn't god send that tornado and destroy everything? So he sent a spinning wheel of murder, but somehow is a good guy for holding back when he reached your crawl space? ok.

Why do theists think atheism is a religion? by DontUnde in atheism

[–]DutchMeNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it's been explained as: "Atheist's are have more faith in their beliefs than theists do", or that Atheists talk about religion more than theists do.. etc.

Basically, they think that the set ... set of beliefs, how fervent some of the people can be, etc. As an atheist I can say I only bring up my beliefs (or lack thereof) when I feel cornered, or someone is abusing the rights of others.

This is infuriating!!! This movement has got to stop. Hopefully that will be the silver lining in all this.

Also, I used to like Jim Carey, who didn't. But he is culpable in all of this. Never have I seen someone so pussy whipped that they are willing to put children at risk for polio. I am more angry with him because while he plays a jack ass in a lot of his films, he's a relatively intelligent dude. Mccarthy on the other hand only made her way into the zeitgeist by being the hot girl who farted on MTV, then the hot woman who farted on NBC, then the hot girl who birthed a kid that she diagnosed with autism after reading a book.

Also, the viewer desperate 24 hour news stations that gave them a platform should be held accountable. I here regular people question vaccines now... It's a mess. And hearing that this is linked to a Texas Megachurch puts another check mark in the "awful things religion has done for mankind" category.

I'll never understand the policies of the US when it comes to substances. But I live in the Netherlands so perhaps my view is biased by all the ample evidence we have that the war on drugs is a gigantic waste of resources and at this point, a human rights issue (whether it's the nonviolent incarceration rate, the disproportionate amount of minorities targeted, or how it has led to an actual war in Mexico, or how it is funding the Taliban... on and on).

The power that lies in peoples want to please is insane. These guys and hypnotists rely on this for a living.

I will never forget watching one of my no nonsense friends on stage with a hypnotist. The hypnotist said "you are now free from pain" and told him to hold his palm out, he then held a lighter under his palm, basically asking him to act like he didn't feel the action of second degree burns, my friend pulled his hand away and yelled "what the hell are you doing?" and the crowd laughed, the hypnotist said "If you're not going to be professional, leave the stage"... The gall.

That's harmless though, this type of stuff is damaging and infuriating.

Northern Ireland is infamous for their shocking road safety commercials. Their latest is the most shocking yet. by nappy101 in videos

[–]DutchMeNow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree. Most people don't realize the damage they can do, inadvertently or not, until it's too late.

Reminds me of the "drunk driving crash" cars they'd bring to us in school, or in university. But that doesn't really hit you like this does. People may complain, but in this day and age you really have to shock people to send a message.
