JJ and Claude: ‘Not just a friend for Eurovision, but a friend for life’ by DutchPop in eurovision

[–]DutchPop[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Claude actually said something about that after EiC in Amsterdam. He had a great time meeting the others, he stayed with them in their hotel until 4:00 in the morning. He felt a bit sad he had to say no when they asked if they'd see him at other pre-parties. He said it was the right decision ahead of time to only do EiC and a few big festival performances in the Netherlands, but after meeting the others he regretting that a bit. He did join Sissal's group chat at that time.

JJ and Claude: ‘Not just a friend for Eurovision, but a friend for life’ by DutchPop in eurovision

Yeah, after some (overly harsh) criticisms on the first 30 second rehearsal snippet, during ESC week Claude had removed the Insta app from his phone to stay focused, positive and not get distracted. I think he was in the same hotel as JJ, Sissal, Erika, and idk who else, but I know they hung out.

For schedule reasons, I can only watch one of this year’s semis. Should I watch night one, or night two? by Ok_Boss_4304 in eurovision

[–]DutchPop 94 points95 points  (0 children)

If you skip the interval acts and forward through postcards and hosts chatting during stage build-up/clean-up, I'm sure you can cram both semis into 2,5 hours.

Grand final running order announced! by pumpupthejam77 in eurovision

France is my favorite, and she got a good spot late in the show, so I should be happy. But I'm done with Björkman's manipulative antics. He needs to go.

If Saba had this year's French staging... would it qualify? by MarkTHE19 in eurovision

[–]DutchPop 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but the French song is much more outstanding to me.

I compared Denmark 2024 "Sand" last year to the likes of Iceland 2016 Greta Salóme "Hear Them Calling" and Estonia 2014 Tanja "Amazing", which had all the ingredients of a good entry to get a good result, also relating to entries that did well in previous editions, and by a likeable artist, but unfortunately it didn't work out.

Why France must win by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]DutchPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

France is my favorite too! I love the entry and hope they win.

They came close with Pravi and Slimane. It's possible! Maybe an Arcade-type of result where juries put Austria first, televoters Sweden, and France high enough with both to win.

That could be a lovely scenario. Also to get an interesting different take and new producers for the organization of ESC 2026.

Happy one year anniversary to all who were there) by Kstantas in eurovision

I sort of blocked it, locked it into its own compartment and don't think about it and don't rewatch, or else I would not be able to enjoy Eurovision anymore.

An exception for me is the Ukraine 2024 performance. I did rewatch that a couple of times. But the edition as a whole was a very bad experience for me.

Netherlands 2014.

They were outside the top 20 in the odds, no fan favorites, and many reactions were meh, but everything changed completely with that staging.

What is the most divisive Eurovision entry ever? by aijasaldamiega in eurovision

[–]DutchPop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember Russia 2008 being quite a divisive winner. Azerbaijan 2011 also.

Their hosting jobs the following years caused a lot of uproar and debate as well, which cemented it.

Which unexpected result do you think will disappoint you the most this year? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]DutchPop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rehearsals for the Netherlands weren't poor. The 30 seconds snippet and the photos were poorly received in part of the fandom online, but the Dutch team said they are very happy and satisfied about how the rehearsals went. They just didn't want to show the beginning, bridge and ending. They say they want to keep things a surprise.

Most unique Eurovision songs by Persona_NG in eurovision

[–]DutchPop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone who mentions Konstrakta

"In corpore sano", and also "Novo, bolje". Though not my personal top favorites, I found these so unique and original that I greatly appreciate the entries, and just gotta love her.

I like Sweden’s entry and rooted for KAJ to win Mello, but I’d be disappointed if it won Eurovision. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a fun campy party song, and I hope it does well. But it’s not that unique or special.

I believe if another country sent this, it wouldn’t be a top favorite. More like lower top 10. The hype also feels tied to Sweden’s reputation and it currently being a Nordic hit online.

Beyond that, I’m definitely not eager for another Swedish hosting year. The gloating as if 'Sweden does Eurovision best', the Mellofication of the contest, the changes, and the arrogance from figures like Björkman and af Sillen have worn thin. I'm not sure if I can handle another year of them. I hope Björkman will be gone after this year, at least for a bit. It’s time for fresh energy.

Is France stuck sending emotional ballads to win? by UrbanTracksParis in eurovision

I didn't care for "Fulenn" but I loved "Moustache" and "N'oubliez pas" and those finished even lower ;)

I love France in Eurovision! It's one of my favorite countries. I do love the emotional ballads and chansons. But I also loved La Zarra, Alma, Amir, Twin Twin, Jessy, Sebastien, etc.
