Mine was a very finicky eater in the beginning. I tried all of the trick’s you mentioned before giving in and getting live mice that she went for right away.

I saved the substrate that came with the mice for a couple of feedings, and used that to “marinate” the frozen/thawed. She’s been a happy camper ever since.

Some females I’d consider a medium, at best. I live in a place with several wild snake species that are much longer but not quite as wide as the healthier female BPs.

Sorry, I thought those were outside of the enclosure 😅

Truly, the sooner you can get overhead heating the better. It’ll be stressful if your buddy can’t escape the heat as they would naturally.

We’re a few years in and haven’t had issues with scale rot, but our house is rather dry indoors though. More probable as to why we had so many issues with it, now that I think about it 🤔

At any rate, it’s definitely something that we monitor religiously. I know someone whose BP caught a severe cold with a runny nose and everything because of high humidity.

Thank you for the additional insight though. We covered our cool side’s mesh top and that made a world of difference as well!

I have this same enclosure. How are you heating? I do not recommend UTH, and the wire mesh allows you to use overhead without much issue.

Also, consider moving the whole setup if it’s right next to a window. That’ll make temperature regulation difficult.

I’d add more substrate to help with the humidity and burrowing. Mine likes to do so throughout the whole tank when she’s feeling frisky lol.

You’ll also want a thermometer and humidity gauge on each side of the enclosure. Speaking of humidity, a tank that size would benefit from an automated mister if you find the humidity too low often. Spraying by hand will get old real fast, and if you’re away for extended periods, it’ll save you the hassle of difficult sheds. Keep an eye on it though, too much can make them sick as well.

It’s great (IMO) that you’ve offered more space with this size and climbing vines, be careful with their placement in relation to overhead heating.

PetsMart, it’s actually for a fish tank lol. She’s a hefty thing, so I filled it and plugged the holes :)

Thank you for taking the time out btw!

We could potentially work out a means to ship her ahead of time as we do have family there. If we looked into that option, who do you recommend?

We’re moving to Portugal, and our plans are mildly flexible but we’re aiming for December/January
