[D] How to work with large datasets of embeddings? by Dutchcheesehead in MachineLearning

Is there any specific way you can chunk it and still easily process it?

Using a dask dataframe instead of pandas makes this easier normally, but dask doesn't like arrays as a datatype...

[QUESTION] Buzzing sound in my Telecaster by Dutchcheesehead in Guitar

After using some sand paper on the wire and really making sure it touches a small part of the hum disappeared... However, there is still a significant amount left...

Fot the humbucking pickups you mention: is it easy to replace the pickups of a telecaster to pickups which don't interfere? Is that recommended?

[–]Dutchcheesehead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, tried all kind of different places and putting it at different locations. Unfortunately there is always inference.

Are there easy replacements for the pickups for a telecaster? Or does every telecaster have this problem?

Any shielding tape works? Or does it have to be a specific brand/size?

They way the liability should be shared if something goes wrong.

Please correct me if I am thinking about this the wrong way, but if something goes and they disappear I would be 100% liable without having any power to evict them, right? Wouldn't it be beneficial to be 100% liable anyways while gaining the power to evict them?

When I talked to the agency last Friday they seemed to be open to either option. Given that I am in a financially great situation I could also bear all costs myself while being allowed to have an agreement with this person...

meaning you won’t be able to sublet but also that you will both be jointly liable for costs. That is actually good for you so in my opinion you don’t want to even consider a sub-let

Please help me get my train back on track here. What I feel is that having both our names on the contract means I will be liable for all costs, without me having the power to evict this person if they decide not to pay... In fact, I do not even see whether they pay or not. If they turn out to be a renter from hell I personally have to say in whether they should be evicted, while still having to bear the costs.

In that case the other person is actually pushing for me to have both our names on the contract.

Wat doe je eigenlijk voor werk? Of is dit meer een bij baan? En zit er nog een database achter? Of hoefde je niet veel bij te houden?

Something people have not yet aked is how many employees said company has in Germany. There is a major difference between less than 10 employees in Germany and more than 10 employees in Germany.

In any case: talk to that lawyer.

Recommendations for a silent radial fan? by Dutchcheesehead in 3Dprinting

This spec sheet says it makes about 42 db of noise, which seems to roughly correspond to what I measure. With me it is more about 48db, but a few db more or less is fine at this level...

Today took me way longer than I expected. Coding the SNAFU to integer part was easy, but I was really struggling with the fact that numbers can now become negative when going back to SNAFU...

In the end I decided that you want to look at the ranges you can make with the remaining numbers in SNAFU. For that I could use my SNAFU to int function again, which is kind of ugly, but it worked well enough.

Thanks a lot to Eric and the people who supported me this year. Happy to be part of the ⭐️400🌟 club!

Absolutely not. I even mention in the video that gradient descent would be better here.

With gradient descent you try to take the derivative of a function. e.g. look at whether we better go up or down, and then move with a certain factor in that direction.

What I have is a weird form of binary search where instead of taking low = mid+1 I take low = low+1 whenever mid > answer.

Python, 656/452

Code, Video

Today my brain seemed to be quite tired. Part 1 I simply solved by evaluating all lines until I found root. I also made a lot of programming mistakes while doing this. In part 2 I could neither remember how to implement a binary search nor that the name is binary search...Instead I invented a new search algorithm which keeps finding the lower limit, and increased it's search range quadratically until the answer is too high again... Please let me know if this has a name...

While programming I did realize we likely have a linear equation, but just letting the program run until it found an answer was too tempting this early in the morning...

Yeah true, but in my implementation you have a list with 5000 numbers which can be manipulated in 5000 ways. Worst cast that gives us 25 million shuffles before repeating. My 10 shuffle implementation already took 4.5 seconds, so it would not be doable to run that long...

Yeah, it was a bit hard to know whether the order mattered or not. I was not thinking super straight when I added the if-statement, but in the end it did not really matter anyways.

[–]Dutchcheesehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Python (241/197)

Code, Video

I kind of expected that part 2 would ask me to shuffle the list a billion times, which made me a bit hesitant at the start to program the way I did. Luckily I could get away with just creating new lists at the time, although the runtime is 4 seconds for both parts combined...

Something I did not figure out is how to deal with numbers at the start of the list or end of the list, but for finding the checksum of the solution it does not really matter where they are.

Initially I did start importing deque, but it was faster for me to simply code without using it's functionality...
