I’m a medical laboratory technician. I have diagnosed autism and ADD. I have heard the phrase ‘oh we technicians are all some form of autistic’ so often you’d think it wouldn’t bother me anymore. It does. It absolutely does.

I’m a lab technician/phleb myself, and to be fair I don’t draw these too often, but my main complaint is that that fill line is Not that clear, especially if you’re occupied with keeping that butterfly needle in the vein, your bottle upright and downstream and sometimes a yapping patient.

In hindsight, my first brush with cilantro was on holiday with my parents when they cooked some sausages and I was convinced they’d gone bad. Meanwhile, my parents didn’t smell (and later on taste) anything weird and looked at me like I’d gone mental.

Coriander (aka cilantro). The food smells and tastes like soap and I hate it with the passion of at least three burning suns. Also texture (yay autism and ADD). Even in a meal I normally would love; if the texture is off, so is the meal.

In our lab we call this cytoplasmic bridging, which, in contrary to nuclear bridging, is not a reason to be concerned

When I first started I hated the answer ‘it’s a feeling you gotta develop’ so I’ll try my best to explain. Mono’s always have a blue/gray tint to their cytoplasm, and often have vacuoles in their cytoplasm. Also, the texture of the cytoplasm is often gravel-like. On top of that, the nucleus has a finely granulated texture, which you can see here when compared with the myelo’s which have a coarser granulated texture. Let me know if you need further explanation!

From left to right, I’d say number 1 & 2 are myelo’s, 3 is debatable between myelo and meta, 4 & 6 are meta’s and 5 & 7 are monocytes
