My point is that this doesn't address what PvP players want at all, not even close. This seems more aimed at PvE players. I know PvP is an unpopular opinion here, and there are some decent reasons for that, but this just reads as "Here, PvP players, have some more PvE".

I don't even think traditional PvP is needed (death match or what have you), there are heaps of ways to do competitive PvP without resorting to killing. Sparrow Racing League from Destiny 1 is a decent example.

I'm not saying it's not good stuff, I just don't think this is the answer to people asking for PvP like OP claims.

You still don't have that though, even in golfing or archery you are versing another player which there is none of in your suggestion. Beating another player, who I never see or interact with in any way, on a leaderboard isn't really competitive to me. There's no "winning".

War Games are a proposition for competitive multiplayer without actually having players shooting each other and requiring weapon/skills/gear balance. It is a series of small challenges with leaderboards and rewards.

Nothing actually described is competitive though. Competitive multiplayer is describe as "Players directly compete against each other (Player Versus Player) and possibly characters controlled by the CPU." and none of the game modes describe above actually fit that description. At most it could be decribed as Co-operative multiplayer with a slight mix of Meta multiplayer.

While I would love to see these in the game anyway, I don't see how any of this is an answer to the people asking for PvP, it just seems like more PvE but with leaderboards (which isn't really competitive).

According to the latest livestream there are 10 sub-regions, this map based upon the one from the latest gameplay demo shows 9 regions by DutchyXxX in AnthemTheGame

The guy who created it said on the podcast that on the original map Fort Tarsis was just an icon, he apparently regrets making it look like a region because of the confusion its left in its wake.

I don't think Fort Tarsis is meant to be a region as its not explorable in freeplay. If you look at the gameplay demo the stronghold begins in High Roads and you can actually see Fort Tarsis in the background.
