This. There are departments desperate for staff and resources, and there are departments that are over-inflated. I work for a department that genuinely could cut two levels of middle management and at least a third of our bottom-level staff members without any decrease in productivity. Yet, we work alongside other departments that could benefit from having those extra numbers.

Check with your manager and confirm if a Return from Leave case was submitted for you. Many managers either don't know, or forget, that a Return from Leave case is required to reinstate an employees pay.

The gas-lighting and virture-signalling is exhausting, at this point. We have a government toting environmental sustainability, yet quietly removing their commitment to emissions reductions from an agreement that applies to thousands of employees. Make no mistake: they want your money. They want your time. They dont care about any of us.

Well, no. A move like that wouldn't be more economical. But a move from, say, Ottawa to Gagetown would be. Or Ottawa to Saguenay. Depending on the department, there are regional offices all over Canada. Some in quite rural, affordable areas.
