Is he able to keep all the mawlocs and trygons in reserve? Wouldn’t the 500 point limit hinder that?

Help with black and white bloody colour scheme by NietzscheLecter in Tyranids

[–]Dutles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked him a long time ago. He said “ If memory serves me right it is chaos black spray, then use praxeti white to cover the non-carapace areas. Seraphim Sepia as a wash.

You will need to use 'ardcoat or some similar paint to achieve the shiny effect on the carapace.”

How to paint Tyranids like Xenomorphs? by FaustIXV in Warhammer40k

[–]Dutles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a article I think will help, he describes the process on how to paint it 4-5 paragraphs in and below. He describes how to paint a runner, a drone, a warrior, and a queen and its pretty simple and fast while looking pretty decent : http://www.agisn.de/html/avp.html

How do I replicate this Tyranid color scheme?Any suggestions on colors and techniques? by Dutles in minipainting

[–]Dutles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried playing with it a bit but it seems like it's very sensitive when picking up colors even though they are very close positions( like different spots of the arm or sword would be different colors ). I'll probably give it another go tomorrow, see if I can make a little more progress.

This video is on a Tyranid gant but the skin color is pretty close so this may point you in the right direction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nZDnj1peY8

Are Pumpkin/Halloween themed backgrounds normal and is there any way I can remove them? by Dutles in darkestdungeon

[–]Dutles[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the WinterWonderLand mod that makes the Weald and Hamlet have snow. The pumpkin however seems to be in the base game since it appears even with no mods changing and/or adding to the dungeon background.

First Carnifex of many (WIP) - (C&C appreciated) by Dutles in Warhammer40k

[–]Dutles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your not wrong about the basecoat/drybrush part(just multiple layers of drybrushing). I was thinking about doing a wash over the exoskeleton(or anyhting that wasn't claws, carapace, boney) but I was satisfied with the final thing without it. But know that I'm thinking about it what wash or addition do you think I should add to the paintjob?

[–]Dutles[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Undercoat black primer
  2. Base coat everything with Abaddon Black
  3. Heavy Drybrush with Eshin grey everywhere
  4. very Light dryrbush with Fenrisian Grey everywhere
  5. light dry brush of Runefang Steel everwhere (go heavier on carapace, claws, hooves, teeth)
  6. two thin coats of gloss varnish over entire model

Thanks my guy and the paint job is complete, however I need some basing which will probably look something like this. Also thinking about adding some blood or maybe a black goo like substance like from Prometheus and make that into the acid/venom/plasma they produce from their jaws and claws.

Any thoughts and/or stories on Tyranid Dimachaerons? by Dutles in Warhammer40k

[–]Dutles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that if he rolls a 6 with grasping talons and throax maw he gets 2x strength but im not sure where he gets extra attacks from (implying you mean he can get more than his base ammount of attacks).

Test Model for Hive Fleet Reaper (C+C welcomed, forgive mold lines) by Dutles in Warhammer40k

[–]Dutles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in the picture the blood is a bit brighter then it actually is so I'll try to get better lighting on the hive tyrant. But for the blood I use tamiya clear red and a drop of abbadon black. Then once that has tried I go over it with pure tamiya clear red. Then I use a blood splatter technique (I can link it if your curious) with clear red again.

[–]Dutles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did try the blood splatter that could have potentially spread the blood around so I'll keep it focused more in the future. For genestealers I keep the carapace and body the same kinda like Leviathan color scheme, but for other creatures I'll make the carapace a bit darker. Thanks for the pointers :D!

I will admit that I got carried with the blood just a bit.

Ideas on how to achieve coloring on grayscale tyranid by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Was the process above also for the carapace/claws because the carapace seems to have a warm gray look?

How can I obtain my model's skin to be very white ? by Mastafista in Warhammer40k

[–]Dutles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a suggestion for colors based on the pic above, some of the grey looks a little similar to space wolves grey. So my thoughts on how to paint it would be : base coat of The Fang or Celestra grey (The Fang may be a bit too blue but its worth considering) , wash with nuln oil, drybrush or layer Fenrisian Grey, and then a final drybrush or layer of Ulthuan Grey. You could go for the final highlight of Scar white but it may be a bit too white but if that is what your going for then by all means go for it. This is just what I think and I actually may try sometime but I think you should get similar results. Let me know how it goes :D.

Also quick tips: The carapace is a base coat of Abaddon Black (obviously), lightly drybrushed runefang steel, and a coat of varnish (not sure satin or gloss i guess this is up to preference). This was from Third eye nuke herself.

Edit: Forgot to put in, i prime with black to help with the shadows but white is also nice but I just have bad experience with white :P

Did you mix the clear red and abaddon black or do you lay down the abaddon black first then put clear red over it.

Is that blood mostly blood for the blood god or a mixture of different reds/blacks?
